    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

If a SCART connection is required to control a STB, two questions arise for me:

    1. How do I control a STB or Blu-ray player which has no SCART connector?

    2. How do I connect more than 3 STBs to an BS3? A BS3 has only 3 SCART connectors.

    Greetings

You only need scart connection if you would like the STB to turn on/off when the tv turns on/off, other requirements are link rooms, and teletext.

If you don't need any of these, then you don't need a scart connection.

I have a PS3 connected via HDMI, and it works fine with my NYKO remote. However BV7 and SW4.24a has an issue which causes the BV7 to crash when watching a HDMI source which is not connected via scart also.

B&O is looking in to this and more errors. However my BV4 is not affected by this crash, and i also have sw4.24a, so it is a BV7/4.24a issue as i see it.

I don't know if this is exactly true. I have an STB connected by both HDMI and scart and I experience the crash-off issue all the time. Probably three times over the weekend. So, I don't think the crash-off issue is due to a none-connected scart lead.

Hmm, i just thought we had narrowed it down to the missing SCART connection ? Then it must be when using HDMI the problem exists, i had my STB connected only through SCART and it was only when using my PS3 or mediapc via HDMI(no scart) i had the crash-to-off feature. It never chrashed when watching my "old" stb which doesn't have HDMI.

But one thing i don't understand though, the BV7 should be based on the same BS3 as my new BV4, but i have now had the BV4 for over a week, and it has not turned off once! And i have been using it mostly for my mediaPC which almost certanly crashed the BV7 at least once every night. Something is different in the stand-alone BS3 and the one in the BV7, that is my conclusion.

I have a Tvix 4100 connected to my BV7 Mk3 via HDMI. I have also a Sat Decoder connected via scart. Two weeks with the new SW 4.24a and still no crashes. As I said before in this thread, I think the problem is the way how the TV was updated, automatically or manually.

i love the way were all calling it a Crash To off Feature like its supposed to happen lol, its a crash to off problem

my tv was re-updated using service tool 5.2.6 MKII on saturday and has lost sync already with SKY

you were saying that you only used HDMI before 4.24 and did the stb work properly without a scart lead being connected?

Since B&O hasn't found a solution, it must be af FEATURE :). Before 4.24 i never experienced the crash when using my PS3 og mediaPC only connected via HDMI.

Well, i have had 2 BV7's one that was upgraded to 4.24a=crash, and one that came with 4.24a installed from factory=crash.

My new BV4 with 4.24 from factory = no crash.

    Go figure :)

I have e-mailed B&O in Struer about the Crash-problem. I got the answer today. They say that they are working on a SW 5.0 which will be released "soon". We now what "soon" means. They could not say if this new sw will solve the crashproblem.

So we have to wait further for the sw 5.0 and see if this will help.

I have it on good authority that software 5.00 will cure the shutdown when connected to Sky HD etc.

A skart is required for correct operation of Sky HD box.

a curious question probably off topic does your original software version that comes with MKII in sync with SKY HD box? It is completely out of sync with mine and i have gone back to the old HD box. My suspicion is more of the SKY box rather than BV7 itself?

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

My BV7 Mk3 was updated to 4.24 few weeks ago, with no crashes till now. The only diference I can see now is that I changed my mediacenter. I had a Tvix 4100SH connected by HDMI 1.1. I changed it for the new Tvix 6500 with HDMI 1.3 and now my TV crashes.

Do you know if this can be the fault, HDMI 1.3 instead of 1.1?

    Regards

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

No idea. I don't think the Sky box (which causes my problem) is a 1.3 device?

I'm getting a little fed up with the time taken to fix this issue. It's been ongoing since July. My TV seems to crash-off at inopportune moments, such as a good scene in a movie or watching football.

hi moxxey i know how you fell and i am waiting until the end of the month as we were told there will be software 5.xx then that shoudl fix the problem i know from a local dealer that according to the B&o info pages they have there is now a note saying that anyone will problems shoudl downgrade there software to 4.17 but i am not going to do that i am waiting, some days its worse than others.

the lack of communication is the worst part i can understand if they have some problems but a little feedback woudl be nice rather than deny all knowledge of a problem.

might call my dealer in a mo just to see if he has heard anymore

Just talked to my dealer, and he told me that there was no release date on the B&O intranet, regarding the new sw. But since they have made a statement now, they has accepted that they are having this problem :)

I bet they are working like rabbits are bang.... on solving the problem.

Let's just hope that the new sw will be released within 3-4 weeks tops.

I am beginning to experience the crash problem on my BV4 also, however it has only done it 2 times in the last 3 weeks. So i am waiting for the next release.

I have also heard that 5.x will be coming 'in November'...so we shall see...this being the US and all.

As an aside to all of you experiencing the 'crash to off' issue, B&O stipulates that the problem is only occuring with HDMI connected devices.  I know that the connection panel on the EU BS-3/BV-7 is a bit different from ours (SCARTs instead of RCA/phono), but a worthwhile temporary fix over here would be to go back to the component video/analog audio cables...usually supplied for free with the device.

And miss out on the HD channels and HD PS3 gaming, and HD mediacenter PC, i think not ! I will just wait and see what happens next week, if the SW isn't available friday next week, i will ask my dealer to downgrade to 4.17. Then the problem is solved.
