    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

Component is always an option. I actually find the picture on Sky HD is better with component than it is with HDMI, although the latest Sky HD boxes have no component connections!

    Weebyx:

And miss out on the HD channels and HD PS3 gaming, and HD mediacenter PC, i think not ! I will just wait and see what happens next week, if the SW isn't available friday next week, i will ask my dealer to downgrade to 4.17. Then the problem is solved.

    /Weebyx

Missing out on what exactly?  Component cables are perfectly capable of handling any HD content any CATV or Satellite service can deliver.  The only possible issue would be not getting 1080p output from the PS-3, and I hardly think being limited to 1080i is 'missing out', particularly since the issue before you now is that you're 'missing out' on rather a lot when the TV turns itself off.

Fine and true, but how do you connect three HDMI devices to a single component input? I'm not getting behind my TV to switch them around and I'm not going to get a switcher, either.

This sw 4.24 problem has been ongoing since July. B&O should have had this fixed by end of August.

New software being installed on Wednesday , it's going into a Bs3 cinema setup , the only issue I have is a mini freeze every 50/60 seconds on Blu-ray Ps3 , they have tried to fix it but they have no idea what the problem is so have been waiting for the new software to try  . This problem appeared a month ago and didn't do it when the system was installed 4 months ago . Forgot to ask what version it is , but they know I have 4.24 now so must be the next issue .

Single component input?!!!  On this side of the pond we get 2 of those!  Of course that leaves you one short still...what is it that you're watching?

hi all just had a call from my dealer who told me 5.0 is in beta testing at the moment.

I do hope this fixes the problems as im told the next step is a new TV but from this forum i see that that has not fixed the problem for anyone so far.

They came Wednesday afternoon to up-date the software , when they arrived they said they hadn't got the up-date yet but it is imminent so only tested the system . They confirmed Monday it was an update so somebody got it wrong .

Bang & Olufsen Service just confirmed that SW 5.0 is ready in 1-2 weeks. Testing is going on at the moment on location at test customers.

If some people cant wait i was told that a new service SW 4.95 also fixes the problems(this isnt tested fully though...).

I know they are VERY focused on this problem at Bang & olufsen and they have hired people just to take care of these sort of problems...

Several months ago a dealer told me that there would be a software update that included a method to adapt the sound to the room similiar to the Beolab 5s. Has anybody else heard anything similiar?

Yes its true, but i don´t think it´s going to be only a softwear update... The name on the method will be DSS and can adjust the sweet-spot to several listeners or direct it to a different area if you got a big room.. This option will be introduced in the BV7-40 Mark IV with 100Hz, DSS and inbuilt HD DVB-T-S ...

So the Blu-ray model will be relased after the Mark IV in mid april or later...

The only thing i can say is, that i am currently testing sw4.95, and i havent had a crash since the upgrade from 4.24, so it seems that this issue is solved :) However, i have only had this SW since last tuesday, so it could be a coincidence, although i have been using my HTPC via HDMI every evening since, and this should have crashed. I believe this issue is solved.

I cannot se any other changes, other that the STB Off text has been changed so it now makes sence what each of the 4 "stb-off" possibilities does :)

did they say what was casing the problem?

Yes, they are very keen on solving this problem, this is not something a tv in that pricerange should do, and one can say, that a crash sw error is the worst error of them all, so they are very determined to solve it.

STB is the SetTopBox controller, when you add your Skybox and assigns it to one of the tv's inputs, you will have the option of determing when the tv should turn the skybox off. There are 4 possibilities, this is these options that has have the text changed to make more sense than before :)

I have not heard from them about what caused the crash.

My biggest fear is that i have just been lucky with the crashes, but i am positive so far :)

Unfortunately i still have tearing issues with 24p movies from my PS3, but ONLY when the PS3 is setup as a "Playstation 3" in the tv, if i reassign it to "Unknown DVD" then the issue is gone. I have reported this issue, so let's see what they will do about it.
