Vista media centre visa beo 4 beo 5

    Hi Weebyx

Could you tell me how you can control the vista media centre with beo4/5.  I'm building a movie server, which will use vista media centre, and would like to control it with my Beo4, I did not think it was possible to do this. look forward to your reply

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

    These are the new features

     ·
Extended “sense” – senses changes on all video signals from peripheral units at the same time, not just one at the time.

     ·
    Support for D11-50”/65”, D10-103”, and re-introducing support for D7-37”.
     ·
    Support for CimC3x 1080 projector.

     ·
    New set-top box standby options:
OFF AT SOURCE CHANGE: Use this setting for set-top boxes that start up quickly or are noisy when running.
OFF AT TV STANDBY: Use this setting for set-top boxes that are slow at starting up.
ALWAYS ON: Use this setting for set-top boxes that are slow at starting up and often used.
MANUAL CONTROL: Use this setting for set-top boxes that you want to control, or if power ON/OFF is not possible (the television does not try to switch the box on or off). Some set-top boxes has the on/off function implemented via Beo4 meaning that GO + 0 sends an on/off command, but this does not apply to all boxes.

     ·
Support for multiple PC sources (for future use).
There are a number of remaining errors that will be fixed in the next release, so there could another thread as you indicated above...

Does anyone know that the all-important 'crash to off' issue is fixed? I'm going to wait for some feedback before asking my dealer to install sw 5. I don't think they'll take too kindly to having to install more sw in the future.

Well, i haven't had a crash with 4.95 since the 15'th, so i believe this feature is resolved.

BV7 mk3 udated today to software 5.0. No white flashes watching a movie on a 1080p source, so it begins fine. I will report if any issue.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

If I understood you well (english is not my first language and you don't help me not using dots and commas), is better to update your system step by step. There are some modules that must be update. I do it unplugging the TV after each update for more than 45 seconds. You have to start updating H8, and then, you can follow updating each module, but, as I said before, unplugging the TV after each update.

I don't unplug the TV after add a new device, even if it is connected via HDMI.

    I hope it helps.

This is what you are searching for...:

Update software to H8 SW 5.00.

    IMPORTANT!
After updating the software, you must enter the CONNECTION menu and go through the "standby options"
for all connected set-top boxes to determine which setting suits the box best (see above).
When settings are made for all set-top boxes, leave the television on (the source must be TV, even if there
is no signal) and switch all connected set-top boxes on and then off one by one. This teaches the television
how the video signal changes with each box.

Hmm, this i guess, is only for SCART connected boxes, since HDMI doesn't have any way of knowing if the box is on or off ?

But what do they mean by switch on-off, is this via the STB of via the box with the original remote ?

P.S i have never had any problems with SCART stb-boxes, only HDMI, so i guess this is'nt for me?

Ok, my BV7-40 MKIII was upgraded to sw 5.00a this afternoon. All seems fine so far. I'll report back on the crash-to-off later in the week (that's the number one fix for this sw). I expect it's fixed though.

This is a new feature for set top boxes.. When updating the TV with sw5.0 the TV most learn to sense the specific On and Off signals from the box connected via the HDMI input.

Major problem: I'm constantly getting a Sky warning that 'this display does not support HDCP' after the new sw update. Screen goes blue with the warning.

WTF? This keeps happening every 2 minutes. I've tried turning off the Sky box, shutting down at the mains and everything? Any ideas?

Not sure exactly what the issue is here, but as a quick-fix/workaround to get it working in the meantime, I would connect the Sky HD box via Component if your box has it. The latest Sky HD boxes don't and I can't remember off the top of my head how old your box is!

It's set to 1080i. Nothing has changed apart from the sw update. I'm doing some more tests. This is really weird - it only seems to happen when the link TV is on. If I just watch via the BV7, it's fine!
