Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Raeuber:
... a new update for the HD mudule is available on B&O website (V. 0.1.8.9.0).
V. 0.1.8.9.0 offers bug fixes for several issues in different markets and a "semitransparent" EPG.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Raeuber: - Press MENU (only once for the menue of the HD module)
- Select 4 (EINSTELLUNGEN in german)
- Highlight OPTIONEN
- Press 0 0 Go
Now you see the service menue of the module, I recognized it yesterday for the first time, so I don't know it's new in 0.1.8.9.0.
Cheers
Räuber
Thanks Räuber!
I didn't notice this menu before, maybe something new?
Did you try to connect the BV10 to the internet?

No, because I have not a long enough cable (my router is far away from my BV 10-40) and the internet connection is only for update purposes of the HD module which can be also done with an USB stick.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
The new version 0.1.8.9.0. in my DVB HD T2/S2/C, give me problems with my CI + module and SmartWi Card Splitter and Comhem. When I installed the old 0.1.7.2.0. again, it worked.

I have a BV10 and Comhem as operator. I have HD via their CI+ module. No card splitter.
I was going to upgrade tonight but now I gor reluctant. Was the problem you encountered due to your card splitter or is it the HD-module that does not work with the new SW version?

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Hi,
I did not test with the original card from Comhem. But only with SmartWi Card Splitter. Started to mess immediately Worked for a while, then error that it could not decode Pulled out the CI + module and then back, then it worked for a while. Then it started to mess again. Flashed back version 0.1.7.2.0. And then all the problems disappeared. Have run with version 0.1.7.2.0 since last Friday, and everything has worked cleanly. So the latest version seems to contain new bugs.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Hi,
I have found another great bug in software 0.1.8.9.0:
It is not possible any more to add channels in channel-groups. After adding the channel with the yellow key, they are not stored in the group after pressing GO.
So I have downgraded my DVB-HD-C module to 0.1.7.1.0.
It´s a shame, B&O!!!

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Also could not add any new programms to any channel groups. I have downgraded to 0.1.7.1.0 and the system runs well. Again I`ve upgraded to 0.1.8.9.0 and the same problems appear again.
For sure I will run my BV with 0.1.7.1.0 till the next software update.

Also with 0.1.8.9.0 I now have no closing curtains. Just a 20 second wait then sudden shutdown.

I'm at 0.1.8.9.0 and my opening and closing curtains work just fine. Have you tried rebooting the DVB-HD module? In my experience, a reboot sometimes works wonders after an update. :-)

Hi!
Downgrade as follows:
1. Switch the television to standby. 2. Insert the USB pen (With the software version you want to install) in the USB slot of the DVB-HD module. 3. Press TV on the remote control 4. Wait for 4 minutes - no feedback is given while the software is being updated 5. Disconnect the television from the mains. (Do NOT switch it to standby first) 6. Remove the USB pen 7. Reconnect the television to the mains 8. Press DTV on the remote control 9. Check that the software version is correct If the software update does not start at all: 1. Make sure that the correct update files are available on the USB pen 2. Try again with a different USB pen
Good luck!

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Thank you for the Instructions. But where do I find the Version 0.1.7.2.0? Where can I download? Or somebody will email it to me?
Than you!

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Is a Beosystem 3 software update history kept anywhere on this site? I'm considering updating my BS3 Mark I from SW 5.0.8 to the latest, but don't know what added features and bug fixes I'd get from doing this.
Any advice as to whether updating would be a mistake?

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Hi there,
Unfortuntely I've not found a single home for the rev history and hopefully someone with access to the service tool can update this thread. Going through this thread and some others on BV7 MkIII onwards you'll see lot of bug fuxes.
V5.x you have was fairly robust.
V6.x - V8.x were shockingly bad, with every fix being made they introduced an additional bug. However, this was also the period when they introduced many new features including 24P. V8.x also introduced support for the internal Blu-Ray drive and support for new screen types MKIV.
V9.x had some link room issues, especially with Sky boxes. This also introduced a new style menu system in black to the left-hand side - which is especially good for Sky and Blu-Ray.
V10.x this is the first version that is as in a par for reliability with your V5.x. However, it still features handshake issues with Sky 1TB boxes on first use.
I believe we are on V11.x today, but have not tried it myself yet. I'm hoping it may have additional HDMI issues fixed, but expect it to be the version that was mostly developed to support 3D.
Obviously this is a purely personal update on the version history.
My TV is still under warranty and have not had the bravery to pick up the phone yet to get them to come out under warranty - again - to apply this next update hoping that after nearly 5 years of ownership I'll finally have a TV that is 100% reliable. But if the bug list features anything about HDMI, then I'm definately giving them a shout...
Anyone got the V11 update history?
Mark.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
I run a commercial Panasonic plasma display off the BS3. According to my dealer, the more recent SW updates broke compatibility with 3rd party displays, and that the January update would fix that. I'm guessing that's the version 11 you mentioned.

Great job, however the latest BS3 software (at least on BV 7-40) is 10.05a not 10.02. Dont know much about releasedate or log however, maybe someone else can fill this in.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Thanks Ehlerz, but in fact the 10.05 is already in my first post : look at the lines in bold to find the latest software, underneath is the changelog and then the version history I could get.
I added a line with "(no changelog)" to the BS3 in order to make the software visible. Maybe I should change something to the form of this first post as it becomes BIG!
