Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
metalmickey:
akoro: BeoVision 10 just got a new build 165 and it's screaming fast (compared to old sw). Boot time with DVB-HD is now half what it used to be, fantastic!
Is this the DVB-HD T/C version 0.1.6.5.0 update that is available on http://www.bang-olufsen.com/dvb-hd/software-downloads ?
Does any one know what changes this version contains, and if it will reset your channel settings after you run the update?
Hi metalmickey,
no, build 165 is the software-version of the firmware of BV10. It can only be updated by your dealer.
The update-version 0.1.6.5.0 is only an update for the HD-module, that can be installed by yourself. After the update channel switching is a little bit faster and you can also update the infos in the EPG by pressing the blue key. Your channel settings will not be reset by running the update.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Thanks for the info!
But the update doesn´t work. I have tried to install it on my BV 10-40 (build 166, HD-Software 0.1.6.6.0), but after pressing the green button it always shows "no update available". I have tried it with different usb-sticks, but no chance.
I had already updated the software of the HD module several times, always without any probs. So I think the update files are faulty.
Has anybody made a successfull update??
Regards
Räuber

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
I just updated my Beovision 8-40's DVB-HD without any problems. I had problems with the updated last time, but today it worked just fine.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
I've heard that the newer BS3 software updates have dropped the ability to turn on/off non-B&O plasma/LCD displays. Anyone know about this?

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Has anyone seen an update for BeoSystem 3 / BV 7 recently and do you know what the updates contained. In particular, I'm looking for improved handshake functionallity over HDMI for AppleTV2 and Sky Box. I'm currently running 10.02.
Also - on a seperate note, has anyone seen a more recent Blu-Ray software update for the onboard Samsung drive on the BV7. Unfortunately I have a BV7-40 MkIII which requires a manual firmware upload. I currently have a build dated back to last April.
Thanks all.

In what way? I have a BV7 and I don't see any handshaking issues for either boxes and I own both? I've had a Sky HD box connected to my BV7 since 2005. No problems in the last year or so.
What problems are you experiencing?

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Hi Moxxey,
Unfortunately 10.x introduced a handshake issue that made startup of the Sky box from standby sometimes will not work reliably. The resolution was to leave the Sky box always on. In my case, this was an issue with the 1TB Amstrad box.
Note sure about the AppleTV2, but I sometimes I experience similar.

I must admit, I don't ever keep my Sky box on standby - it needs to be on to get the Anytime content. I have 10.05 installed so I might try and see if it will wake the Sky box from standby, later. However, I still don't see the need for it to go on standby.

Moxxey,
Hug a tree, save the planet. Solar power is the future for your home. Or with a reliable 11.xx (we hope) that finally after nearly 5 years, we'll have a perfect BV7-40 that finally says what it does on the tin.
Lights out.

Yeah, but everything else is on standby and, frankly, the Sky box isn't doing very much when it's left on. HD access is minimal and it's not processing the incoming signal. It's in a low power state anyhow. And, as I said, you don't get the Anytime updates (as frequentely) if you leave it in standby. Which is about quarter of the reason for having the box. Nor can you record!
Apple TV goes in to standby by default though, but the BV7 has never turned it on automatically :(

I think I have Build 168 or something like that, and wonder what has changed since then.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
I agree. These upgrades are coming thick and fast - what are they for? Details are required from B&O but just try contacting them. A wall of silence. My BV8 is running 166d but I am reluctant to upgrade because I heard about electronic curtain problems with the new(er) version

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Hi,
a new update for the HD mudule is available on B&O website (V. 0.1.8.9.0).
The only news I have recognized is in the EPG menue (green key): In the upper half of the screen you can see now the picture of the current program. The startup time is still more than 30 seconds.

Re: The unique, one and only SOFTWARE UPDATE THREAD!
Raeuber: Hi EdoiardG,
yes there are further menues if you press 0 0 Go, but I didn't try this with the older software versions so I don't know if this is new. P.e. it seems possible to transfer the settings to an usb stick or to transfer them back to the hd module. Did you test this function yet?
/Räuber
Frankly, I didn't dare [:'(]
But now, I don't remember what I did to see that menu you're talking about.
It's not the advanced menu nor the customer menu.
I remember I've seen a menu from where you can set the internet settings too but don't remember how to call it.
Could you please tell me how you did to call this menu?
Cheers,
PS: Why is this update 0.1.8.9 and not 0.1.7.3 as the previous DVB HD update was 0.1.7.2 ? Weird !
