    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

    Roger:

Around my neck of the woods we have similar problems with crashing. On top of that, the cable box will not switch on when the HDMI is activated - set HDMI to 'no' in the connection menu and everything works fine. We have verified this by testing 3 different BV9's with 4 different SW's, so this issue is not only related to 4.24: With HDMI activated the STB doesn't turn on with BS3 with the following sw versions: 3.08, 4.00, 4.17 and 4.24. Of course, a fully wired scart is used in parallel for STB power read-back.

B&O uploaded something they refer to as "4.24 correction" now, and I have the service tool in my car and will upgrade tonight and see just what they have 'corrected'.

    Roger

Very interresting, can't wait to hear from you when you have tried it.

No, and I do not understand why they didn't call it 4.25 if they actually have 'corrected' something as major as the HDMI/scart sync/connection bug. I will report back tomorrow.

Well, I do know why it's called 4.24 correction - Unless I have missed something, the correction relates to flashing of the modules and the fact that some BeoSystem 3's had to be updated module-by-module earlier: Now you simply update the H8, then select automatic update for the rest. Nothing regarding the issues we are troubled with is addressed.

But that doesn't help me. We need 4.25!

Dammit !, but i can tell you that they are looking into the problem at the moment, so we can just hope. My dealer has some more news for me tommorow, and if he doesn't know a timeframe, i will have my SW downgraded to 4.17. I am better of with no 24p support and no crash, than 24p and crashing.

Is it possible to downgrade the sw? I'm sure I was told it wasn't (ie. only possible to re-flash with the current sw)?

My update was done yesterday. In theory, a downgrade is possible, however, the technical expert of my dealer who did the update, told me, that with the new version of the service tool all old version were deleted automaticly from his PC. hmm....

My dealer talked to B&O and a downgrade is possible.

My dealer is getting a program from B&O that can debug more info from the TV, then we will se if the tv logs errors that is not possible to see in the info menu, regarding the crash-to-off feature.

Nice! You buy a £9000 TV and we have to do the bug testing for them (whilst the project manager is on his vacation). I had my dealer around my place so often that the walls were getting marked as they kept going behind the TV, the BL9's kept getting knocked etc. I wasn't too happy in the end - I don't really want the back again, soon.

Let's not blame it all on the project manager, he is also entitled to his vacation. I bet B&O is doing all thay can at the moment to solve our problems, but if they cannot reproduce the error in their setup, we are better off helping them to collect as much information as possible, regarding the error, than just to sit back and hope they can find an error in the SW. If we can help them narrow it down as much as possible, then i am glad to help.

    hello all

another error i have noticed since my MKII was that when my tv turns off via timer at 1am after i have gone to sleep the tv stand never returns back to its normal position, its very annoying and feels kind of cheap when you see it in the morning.

That's not an error: B&O do not allow their BeoVision's turn if shut down by timer or by using "system standby" via BeoLink. This is for obvious safety reasons - knocking over a candle light etc.

Put another way: For the TV to turn you will have to initiate this by using the remote in the very same room as the product is in. The TV will not turn when turned off by other means than the remote control (ie timer off or system standby from a link room).

oh right ok i did not know this so it wont turn back to standby position via standby off in the timer menu just in case if causes some damadge or something i can see the logic.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

Hi, i have now had the SW downgraded to 4.17a, so now it is just to test if the crash->off feature is gone.

The dealer also restreivet additional debug info from the tv, and he is mailing this to B&O.

    So let's see what happens.

Hi, since i had it downgraded to 4.17 it hasn't crashed once, so i am happy until the next sw update comes out. One other thing is that when using SW 4.24, the PC doesnt find the tv as "Beovision 7", but as "HDMI display", with 4.17 the PC finds the tv as "Beovision 7", i will report this to my dealer today, så they can get this fixed also :)

Did your dealer tell you when the new SW was expected ?

It would seem that a lot of 'extra engineering' has gone into products for the North American market, leaving us in the UK ( one of B&O largest markets) with the lesser versions of product.

I thought there were  problems unrelated to an STB such as the white flash you complained about early in this thread.

And if by STB you mean a satellite box, yes, I have a STB connected via HDMI to the BV7, and both work fine . If by STB you mean something different, no I do not.
