    Evan:

Ok, for now that is all I have time to post. We did make a good deal of progress, but you all will just have to wait and see.

Todd and I both have to head out for work. I will post the rest tonight!

Uncool leaving us hanging.  No - thumbs down

Get an 8 to 5 job!  (And a turntable while you're at it.)

I work 9-5 tomorrow, any better? Like you, I am posting on the job!

As for the turntable - you must be patient! Haha Laughing

That's why Eugene "turns me on" with all her avatars and pictures and I mean that in a nice way. This "turns me on" is just an expression I got earlier from another member in another thread. Hey Todd & Ev,

As I remember that Ev really wanted a BM4000 instead of his down BM3000 that would be a possibility for you to get it - and that would be the next repair challenge for you Big Smile

If I only could get one of mine to him - I'm getting another (still broken) one next week so have enough of them for me. But for the shipping costs Sad

    Good luck with your projects,

       Gunther

I love my 3000 to death and it will be getting fixed! Martin is currently assembling a cap/lamp/trimmer kit for me now. So that project will resume!

I would love to have a 4000 to place next to my 3000, what a sight!!! Dare I ask what shipping would cost?

I checked 15 Kg to Mex city from DK, depending on the carrier 400-500 USD, maybe Deutches Bundespost is cheaper. the 4000 is 12 Kg.

When in Struer go pick it up,  or ship to the hotel in Struer, and bring it as carry on. Thats what I would do

Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

Ev, I really don't know but I think shpping from Europe to the US is expensive.

    That BM4000 weighs 10.4kg without any packing. Dimension packed would be roughly 70 x 40 x 20cm.

    Had a short look at DHL - Package with 120 x 60 x 60 max with 20kg to USA is 65 EURs.

That's much more than I paid for my BM's Sad Even counting in the spare parts I needed to repair them.

If you would have an idea.....

Or we can hand it over at Struer next year - but this would easily kill your free baggage weight Stick out tongue

       Gunther

EDIT: oops, Soren was there with the same idea Smile And for sure several 100 $$$ are more than inacceptable.

EDIT2: And all the european BM4000's I know of are 104MHz only Unsure

I have been trying to get freight quotes, DHL, UPS and Fedex and online they only give me the Express qoute, so Gunthers qoute is more realistic.

Where do you get it Gunther ??. I'm very interested in bringing a Reel to Reel (2400) and USD 100.00 wont blow me off.

    The freight quote?

I looked at http://www.dhl.de/en.html   (they even have this in english - I just guessed about the /en & it works, I was directed to /de...)

Don't know if they are really valid - If we have to be sure I'll have to ask some real person at the office when I find one...

And having a look at freight to Mexico - that's 85EURs @ 20kg as that's obviously another zone. Still better than the $$$...

Found it, Bundespost is using DHL for packets, und Deutsch ist kein problem, Ich spreche Deutsch wie ein Hamburger, mojn, mojn.

All the shippers gives you an internatinal express rate, and no info on cheaper rates. PITA

So, jetz kanst Du mir ein Beocord Reel to Reel 2400 geschenken (kann auch ein andere Modelle sein), mit grosse Freude zahle ich die VersandkostenBig SmileBig SmileBig Smile
