In this photo', a Beocenter 2 is clamped on this metal block. In the red bit underneath are two holes. Out of these holes, two metal rams are shot up like bullets under air pressure.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what this picture is aboutConfused However, the large white door is the entrance to a freezer where B&O items are subjected to extremes of temperature. Brrrrr!

Torben is demonstrating here the use of domestic cleaning products on the back of a Beovision.
By dragging this small brass weight up and down over the surface with an abrasive cleaner like Vim then examining the results, he can then compare with different weights and different cleaners.

The two bottles behind Torbens right wrist contain, wait for it.......

    Sweat and stale sweat!
Simulations of course. These bottles of sweat are squirted on things like remotes and Beocom keypads and then baked on. Ughh, great jobIck!

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

After we left Thorbens domain and headed towards the viewing room, we went through a central room where we had a quick coffee.
On the walls of this room were many posters. I think a lot of them were of designs that students had forwarded to B&O.
This one shows a potential "Mobile 2" and I think the strange contraption on the right is a Beocenter of some kind. Quite interesting, in the bottom right hand side is a remote control which is worn on the hand like a knuckle-duster.
Edit-- I have removed this photo'. It may have breached an agreement we had with B&O. Sorry, Andy.

I took a solitary jaunt down a corridor and looked through the window at the far end.
This is what I saw. Somehow, I can't see this becoming a future Matchbox Model of Yesteryear!

In the viewing room we were sat in rows looking at two massive screens. One was HD ready and the other Full HD.
I have to confess, I know very little about the difference.

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

However, I can see the difference in the quality of the small details.
It's a bit difficult to show on my photo's, not having a fancy camera like Ed but you can see the difference in the grey/white boxes a third of the way down the screen. The screen on the right shows many smal lines that appear to move whereas the Full HD is much sharper.
One of the other comparison pictures was a scene of a huge crowd of people outside a landmark building. There were railings in that picture and they only looked correct in the Full HD picture.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

Thanks for that, Andy. Big Smile

From the viewing room we moved on into the listening room.
This room was quite small, about the size of my lounge. Across the front of the room were some large curtains hiding speakers we couldn't see. These curtains were made from Penta fret fabric so they were acousticaly transparent.
Every item on the wall was there for a purpose and, I think, the rear wall was acousticaly dead but don't quote me on that.
We were played three different tracks and asked if we could guess what speakers were hiding behind the curtain.
The first track was classical music (Mahler I think) and the sound was truly wonderful! From my seated position the bass and midrange seemed to come from about the same height as my head but the higher tones seemed to be coming from way up high near the ceiling
This made me presume we were listening to two pairs of speakers. I was unsure of the lower ones as they sounded every bit as good as my Beolab Pentas at home. but the ones up high had to be Beolab 3s or possibly Beolab 4000s.

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

Once the curtains were pulled back I was a bit suprised to see Beolab 9s.
I should have guessed really as I had heard them once before on launch day in my local dealers. I had forgot how good the acoustic lens was at throwing the sound up into the room. Once again, even the bookshelf is there for a reason, some of the books are actually dummies.

We then briefly looked from a viewing platform into "The Cube".
Like an absolute numpty, I took a photo with the flash but, as the walls and floor were that far away there wasn't time for the flash to reflect back into the open shutter and so I ended up with an almost black picture. I'll post it anyway for the sake of the handsome fellow in the foregroundWink

Just round the back of the cube was a small room where the sound technicians worked. On our way round there, I asked the sound guy who had demonstrated the Beolab 9s to us had he worked on the Pentas. "No" he replied "This is the man who made the Pentas!"

His name is Gert Munch, pronounced Gird Monk and I just had to shake his hand and give him a resounding THANK YOU!
Now we know he didn't design the Pentas as we all know this was down to Lone and Gideon Lindinger-Loewy, so I guess that he was involved in the fine tuning and positioning of the drivers and amplifyers etc
Just behind him is a hatchway into the cube. I am the ugly mug on the left.Embarrassed

After all three groups had seen these three exhibitions we all congregated in the lobby again. We were now going to visit the mechanical plant but sadly we had to hand in our cameras and mobiles.
This is the reception window were we handed them in.
The models on the window ledge stand about two inches tall. If I can ever afford a pair of Beolab 5s,it will probably be these ones!

Thanks Andy for your nice feedback.

Relating to those cute replicas, I'd get some of those ones* if I couldn't get a real pair of BL5's too !

    * if B&O sells them of course...

Cheers Guy. I had worked that out after asking a similar question when he was dressed in red!
Earlier on in this thread I added a link to your thread on the French forum, with your superb photo's.
    All the best, Guy.
