Thank you very much Andy for the beautiful story of The Pilgrimage to Struer!

You make me feel a bit sad not to have come out there, but you give me now a big envy to be present

    next time. Big Smile

Very impressed too by Frede’s B&O (and Quad Wink) collection! Is he a Beoworld member?

Don’t hesitate to post as much photos you have, it’s a real pleasure.

Thank you Daniel and Fredrik for clarifying who you are in the pictures. Now we need the French Beoworlders to do the same.
I would sincerely like to thank all of you for the pleasant comments you have madeBig Smile I didn't expect to get such overwhelming support.
My biggest worry now is that the rest of this thread will meet up to your expectations. You must bear in mind that our cameras and 'phones were taken away for some of the internal farm visit.
I will keep going though, but please be patient and don't throw tomatoes.

After getting off the bus we all meandered down into the Farm and congregated in the famous lobby with the piano.
This is the stunning Edina next to the piano, but who is this seated?
Edit- This is Carsten from Denmark.

In the week running up to our visit we were told we would be hosted by a lady called Gitte which was a name we all wondered how to pronounce!
Her full name is Gitte Blaesild and it's actually quite easy to pronounce, Geeta is near enough.
She introduced herself in the lobby and she is a lovely lady and was very heavily pregnant. She must have given birth by now.Hope it went OK.

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

Gitte explained that we would be split into three groups. My group paid our first visit to "The ultimate concept, Beoliving"
This is a great photo, I feel like I want to put bubbles with peoples words in them like a comic!
I think Stefan is saying to his wife, Birgit "Here love, I'll take the baby now, you look after the dog"
Meanwhile, Emmanuel is saying " Sacre Bleu! I've never seen anybody work a Beo4 with their feet before!

My group then moved into an example of the B1 store.
If you look carefully, you'll notice a rotating stand next to the Beovision. It has Beolab 6000s. Beolab 8000s and another set of speakers (I think they are probably the new Beolab 9s) The dealer can effortlessly rotate them for different demonstrations.
These would have been handy in Newcastle, Peter, for the big speaker shoot out you had.

Gitte then moved us into "The Time Tunnel", a temporary museum showing B&O thruogh the ages.
All these exhibits are to be moved to the new big museum being built in Struer town centre under the supervision of Ronny Mortensen.
She looks a bit fed up on this photo but she wasn't. I guess it was hard work in that stage of pregnancy showing 27 multinationals around.

While we were in the time tunnel, Gitte demonstrated an old television which had two little handles that folde out and you could push the telly round like a wheelbarrow.
As soon as I saw that, I said "Hey Gitte, Can you do that again for my camera"  She pointed a her tummy and said "Thanks" but she obliged anyway. I felt like a worm! Typical of me, Gob first, Brain second!

After all three groups had seen these three exhibitions we all congregated in the lobby again. We were now going to visit the mechanical plant but sadly we had to hand in our cameras and mobiles.
This is the reception window were we handed them in.
The models on the window ledge stand about two inches tall. If I can ever afford a pair of Beolab 5s,it will probably be these ones!

For the aluminium factory tour, we were split into two groups and set off in opposite directions.
Some of the highlights for me were climbing up onto the massive tanks were items were anodised. The various tanks ran the full length of the room and an automated overhead crane lowered aluminium items on titanium racks into them for the required length of time. As we watched, the lid of a tank opened and out of the tank emerged a rack full of beautiful, bright red Beolab 8000 body shells. They were only in the air for about ten seconds then plunged into the next tank for sealing the anodise.
On the other side of the building, two massive robots were working avay furiously in a huge glass room. They were polishing up Beocom 2 shells, one by one!
To get a machine to do an even ammount of buffing on a banana takes quite a complex number of moves!
I also found out how they moulded the banana shape with all it's various different recesses.
Absolutely no heat is used! It's done by placing the alu tube in a container of water and then pressurising the water. Once the aluminium reaches a certain pressure, it becomes maleable and is easily shaped in it's mould.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

As we walked diagonaly across the factory floor, we crossed paths with the other half of our party. Ed was amongst them and he caught my attention and pointed franticaly at one of the titanium racks that were all over the place. "Look Andy,-----Beo5!" I looked on the rack and it was quite obvious that the globe shaped objects were, indeed the body of Beo5, about 90 of them! No wonder we had our cameras confiscated!
When we questioned our guide, he eluded the question tactfuly and ushered us towards another glass encased room.
A monster of a robot was employed in there and it's sole purpose was to stick 4 small rubber blocks onto the rear of glass Beovision contrast screens. A pallette of screens were placed on a specific spot on the floor and this multi-jointed robot looked all round the stack of screens and memorised the exact position of each corner of each screen. It knew then where to grab each screen to lift it and start it's process. I think it took about six minutes to attatch all four rubber blocks to each screen. I compared this to what I imagined to happen in a Kikinoko factory. You know, churning out a telly every three seconds! One of the reasons that B&O is priced such.
Just near that, some Beolab 6000s were having the brushed aluminium effect applied in a closed in machine. Ther was a small window we could peer in and could see vast ammounts of oil splashing about, used as a coolant while abrasion was taking place. I was suprised to hear that these abrasions were made by Scotchbrite, same as the stuff you have at home under the sink!
After our tour we went back into the Farm for lunch

    Poor me, never win owt!

It's 830 PM here in UK and today I received an LC2 that I got on eBay for £65. So I'm going to take a small break while I fit it to my lounge ceiling light.
    Back in a bit.

    First stop, The torture chamber!
We were shown around here by Torben Møller Jørgensen. First he showed us this green machine that simulated traveling a long distance in a truck. Shocking truckdriver though, he must have been aiming for every pot-hole!
This Beovision was destined to be smashed up with a sledge-hammer after going through all the tests!
Sorry about the continuous use of exclamation marks, I can't help it!
