No they did not! The Beosystem 6500 had the MCP6500 but it changed to the Beolink 7000. By the time the Beosystem 7000 came out to replace Beosystem 6500 the Beolink 7000 was standard remote for it.

I don't know the story but white was the extra option with the Beosystem 5500 which Beosystem 6500 also had though the silver/chrome was the standard instead of the mat colour that the Beosystem 5500 had. What you have is a MKIII version. It came out in 2001. A 1999 version is most likely a MKII or maybe MKI.
