Sounds like the main circuit board could be fried. Happens from voltage spikes on the phone line or lighting some times. Are you sure the voltage transformer you bought is the right voltage. It should output 9 volts DC @ 300 milamps.

the auto or manual setting is only for sound calibration to adjust speaker levels to match each other. You need to go to menu - sound - adjustment- volume. set the level to what you like and press go to store. If you do not see setting stored on screen the system did not save the new level.

The short answer is NO. the PC input or the ML Active will not work without a connected B&O music system. If you can connect it to a system it will work as planned.
