Hi,

I purchased a Beotalk 1200 on eBay. It arrived without any cables, adaptor, etc. I bought everything I need to connect the Beotalk 1200 from the B&O store in Toronto. I have downloaded the Instruction manual.

I have connected the beotalk as shown in the manual, however, it will not power up. I would like to be positive that it does not work before I return it to the seller. Does it need to be reset somehow? Are there any tips other than the trouble-shooting listed in the manual? Is there anything that I should do that is easily missed? Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the main circuit board could be fried.  Happens from voltage spikes on the phone line or lighting some times.  Are you sure the voltage transformer you bought is the right voltage.  It should output 9 volts DC @ 300 milamps.

Yes, the output of the power adapter is correct. Everything seems to be properly connected. I was hoping there was something simple I missed. I bought it for a low price on ebay ($50.00) from a seller with 100% feedback. The seller states that it was working properly at their house and checked it before shipping.

If it was working at his house, why did he send it with no adapters etc?

I have recently purchased a Beotalk 1200 from a (UK) dealer.

In the instruction book,it states Output 9V.

However,on the power supply,provided with the Beotalk,it states Output: 7.5V

                                                                                                         0.5A

                                                                                                         3.75VA.

Will the Beotalk accept an extra 1.5V without being damaged? 

On US BeoTalk 1200s, I've seen units that seem to power up yet won't take calls or capture CallerID - victims of power spikes, surges, etc.  Your unit may need a new PCB - cost in US for parts alone is ~US225 alone.  Given that BT1200 has only the one board, your options may be limited...
