  • Re: My problem with B&O

I think that a system that is effectively a network, that has to have its own simplified network language and addressing system such as B&O integrated systems is fine at certain levels, but when it starts getting to the point where you can't install it yorself, but need someone to come along and do that for you, and a system that is 99% incompatible

  • Re: Type K speakers

I missed a pair that came up about two weeks ago, two sets I've seen in the last 3 years, so maybe third time lucky eh?

  • Re: Can You Hear The Difference?

The best encoder I have come across so far in terms of sound quality is CDex. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ ....and yes, compare an MP3 from this encoder to a file from another both at the same bitrate and you can tell the differance.

  • Re: Unbelievable: Beogram 3000

Once you have power to it, all you do is lift up the arm from the retainer, there is a rod inside the retainer pillar which operates a fairly crude lever switch under the top of the plinth. When you lift this arm up, you should get a neon light show up in the little window on the front right. This neon illuminates the underside of the platter, which

The raise/lowering arm was also sold by B&O as a seperate part, you sometimes see them up for sale, you might pick up one as cannabalised parts from a less illustrious turntable.

  • Re: Can You Hear The Differenc e?

Yes, you can hear the differance and its marked, the lower bitrate MP3 does not have the same dynamic range, it sounds 'flat' and has little punch. Modern recordings tend to compress music so they too tend to sound flat, but you really can tell when you put on something even just a few years older.

Nope, it still will not work, some bits almost do some things. This exemplifies everything to me that I despise about B&O. Prior to the link/distributed media era, B&O stuff was simple to use, it was intuitive, had great design, and this is the stuff I love. The link era broke compatibility from everyone else, quite often it needs specialists

  • Connecting LS5000, Beocord 7000 video, Cable box with AVX1

Since my tv LS5000 has only one SCART socket, I have always had this connected to my cable tv box. VHS machines are so dirt cheap, even B&O ones, I thiguh I'd indulge all of £13 in one on EBAY. Problem although the cable box does have 2 SCART sockets, one of which is marked VCR, it turns out that I can't use it and the video relies
