  • Tape Head demagnetising

Hi , I recently acquired a Beosystem 3300 in mint condition and I have a question regarding the tape heads in BEOCORD 3300. The user manual recommends periodic cleaning of the tape heads, capstan, pinch roller.. but there is no mention of demagnetising heads. On my previous SONY decks , I used to demagnetise the tape heads after 50 hours use. Does the

  • Beomaster 1900 Left Tone(bass/treble)

I acquired a BM1900 over a year ago and everything works correctly (almost!) . The only service I performed was to replace 3 lamps ..bass, treble and balance. I use this receiver for FM listening and TV-DVD out (to Tape In). Recently, I was testing out different speakers to audition and there is a problem that I didn`t notice before. The Bass and Treble

  • Re: Some 70s stuff for sale

Hi, I'm interested in acquiring the BG 1700 as my current 1700 is on it's last legs but it has a perfect dustcover. The problem is cost of shipping to Canada North America. So, what is the asking price for the BG1700 and what is approximate shipping from Germany to Canada ? I hope this can work without spending a fortune on shipping across the

  • BEOGRAM 3404 pause/stop functions

Hi all. A couple of months I acquired a BG3404 via EBAY and a great find as it arrived intact and seller's promise of mint condition was legit. In the last 2-3 weeks, a malfunction is appearing with the STOP and PAUSE functions > when STOP is pressed, the turntable does not stop (rotating) with tonearm return and likewise when PAUSE is pressed

  • Re: BEOGRAM 3404

Hi Peter, Thanks for your corroboration and +comment. I did buy this deck and pleasant surprises do occur; the seller did not BS and the 3404 rates a +8.5 condition functionally and cosmetically. Unlike wine, this BEOGRAM did travel well ! On a different note regarding your cartridge tests : I fitted this latest BG3404 with a MMC20EN circa 1984 and

  • BEOGRAM 3404

I'm interested in acquiring a BEOGRAM 3404 (Ebay) to use as a 2nd deck to my BEOGRAM 1700. This would serve as my rig to CD/server as I have an extra MMC20EN and my 1700 would be dedicated to my audio system. Question : Is this BEOGRAM 3404 reliable/ worthy in terms of performance ? The selling price on EBAY is $125 w/shipping-insurance and stated

  • Re: cartridge/stylus replacement

Ditto that procedure, I second that motion as I just reinstalled the same SMMMC20EN on my 1700 after fixing the wiring interconnects. Please inform us if you like the sound, I think it's better than the oroginal but then again , I don't use the same Beogram. Regards, ihor

  • Re: Beogram 1700 wiring for interconnects / solution-

Hi, Accordingly, what you described about taking off the tonearm..is hell! Through a more detailed inspection, the tonearm itself and all else fitted to the chassis-mechanism looks like a ROLEX with no room and tight tolerances. Taking note of your suggestion to short out the pins led me to the correct solution. I thought about my preamp and measured

  • Re: Beogram 1700 wiring for interconnects

Hi and greetings from Canada, Thank you for your reply and insight. I did figure out the wiring connection according to your explanation but unfortunately , 1/5 wires broke (Left cold-common) and I was hoping this wouldn't matter as the R cold-common is connected with the L cold-common at the junction terminals. No dice as there is hum from Left
