    Re: BV7-40 MKIV specs?

    The decoding of the HD-codecs, such as Dolby True HD and DTS-HD will be done in the player (not in the Beosystem 3). That means that the player will send the decoded sound as digital Multichannel PCM-stream to Beosystem 3.

    Re: BV7-40 MKIV specs?

    @Martin01 : That's not what B&O said :

    This is an integrated player, so it's only a reader like those you can find in a PC. So the player itself doesn't decode anything!

    If you buy an external player, you can do that (decoding the DTS HDMA in your player and sending the decoded signal in PCM 5.1/7.1 to your B&O system.

    If you buy a BV7 blu ray, the DTS HDMA will be decoded only as DTS, because DTS HDMA is backward compatible. You will get a very good DTS sound, but not the real high definition soundtrack.

    So if you want the best sound possible, choose a BV7 40 Monitor and add an external player (PS3 for instance, you get the game bonus!)

    Re: BV7-40 MKIV specs?

    And more important : DTS HD/DTS HDMA 7.1 will be converted to 5.1. So if you have a 7.1 setup, avoid the integrated player...

    What about Dolby True HD, will that be converted to Dolby Digital just as the DTS-MA will be DTS?

    No, the PS3 is no better than the internal player. Also, I read that the PS3 is now fairly average compared to the most recent and modern Blu-ray players. ie. the picture quality is not regarded as the best on the market. Perhaps the internal player may be better than the PS3 for this reason.

    Yes, absolutely. It will share the same LCD panel.

    Re: BV7-40 MKIV specs?

    The PS3 can convert the DTS HD to PCM 7.1 via HDMI, allowing the user to play the 7.1 soundtrack on a Beovision...

    Concerning quality, I have not seen something better than a PS3 on a 2,5m large screen when choosing a player (in fact you almost cannot detect any difference in image quality between good players), so I must admit that I would be a bit surprised to see any visible difference between the BV7 and a PS3 on its 40" screen!
