I don't know, SP. I'm still a little worried about jitter.

    Re: Beosound 5 specs

I still do not quite understand the layout. The Beosound5 is a control panel. Is that linked to the Beomaster5 by a cable or is it wireless? Where do you have to position the 2 units? Is the connection just the ML or do have to connect it to the TV when you want to see pics? It is equipped with wireless, is that for internet access?

    Best regards Oliver

Beosound 5 is connected to the Beomaster 5 via a USB, a DVI and a special power cable.

The Beomaster 5 can also be connected to the TV via HDMI and ML..

The Beosound 5 allow you to browse through your N.MUSIC and N.RADIO, on its own screen.

The Beosound 5's screen is not meant to display media. It is just a user interface which allow browsing. It shows CD cover.

You can use the Beomaster through the TV screen to navigate with the Beo4 through your N.MUSIC and N.RADIO, but also through Video, Photo and Web, like on the old Beomedia 1.

I do not know how beomedia works, so it does not answer the question how to conect to the TV and wether ML as a connection will be sufficient?

    OKF,

ML does not handle video in any set-up so, no, it is not sufficient in itself.  BeoMaster 5 will likely use the 'PC' command on modern B&O TV's, so I would expect to use a 15-pin VGA cable for video.  For video, it will also output DVI-I, S-video, and composite video.

Thanks a lot so it would mean to put an anying black box somewhere near the BV 7. B+O does not have brain in gear.

    Re: Beosound 5 specs

Beomaster 5 will be controlled via Masterlink with PC command, video via DVI and composite, audio via spdif and analogue.

You will find this information and much more - complete user- and service manuals for Beomaster 5 AND Beosound 5 - here:

With Silver Membership you should be able to get there, you might have to send Lee a note.

    Re: Beosound 5 specs

Thanks, yes I have it now and new questions arise :-)

My BV 7-40 does have a DVI-I Port and I guess it is active. Does this Port transport sound and video signals? I have connected to the PrPbY and to audio R/L a Wii Station. In that resperct I am not sure whether my 7-40 is HD ready or not. Looking at the Product No. which ends with 51 it is MK1 but from 2006 which should be MK 2 and I need to find out the differences.

    Best regards Oliver

DVI does not transport sound, so you will have to connect the sound connection using a separate cable can configure it in the menu.

    Only HDMI has sound.

I suggest now that you are a member that you run the PCG every time you connect something as it will tell you how to connect it the best.

    Re: Beosound 5 specs

The PCG is not really that comfortable and it does not include the BS5

How is sound transported from BS5 respectively the BS5 main Box, just by ML? Or is it the Line (one plug?) out and where does line out go to into the BV7-40?

    Best regards Oliver

    Re: Beosound 5 specs

Actually both HDMI and DisplayPort support sound (DVI does not) HDMI already appears as a technology that'll be phased out mid-term.

Well I thought HMDI 1.9xx, 2.5xx, then 6.7xx were the future proof (non-backward compatable) connection standards that everyone harped on about and demanded to have in every B&O product!

When are we all going to realise most of this stuff is gimmick for the far-Eastern electronic companies to sell us the same stuff.

No-doubt DisplayPort will be another compatability nightmare (I know what it promises - but so did HMDI) and digital rights management censorship.

    May it not last long.

You can convert from DVI to HDMI. Converters are quite cheap. You still need to get the sound with separate connection.
