    Beolab:

I have discovered in the service menu that this panel are a (Samsung) and called LTA400HS-LH2. (High Glare panel)

If someone want to read about the panel just click on this link: http://www.dcd.it/prodotti/lcdTV/LTA400HS-LH2.html

(http://www.dcd.it/lcd_tv.html all samsung panels listed in the main menu)

    Hi Beolab,

I noticed that the Samsung panel you refer to in your intial post has a typical Contrast Ratio of 1200:1. How is it that the specs for the new BV 7-40 mk III has a contrast ratio of 2000:1?

The MKII had a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and the new MKIII has a 2000:1 contrast, according to the specs offered in the B&O press release.

Re: My BV 7-40 MKIII Full HD Dark Grey has finally arrived! Pictures, info, and much more...!

    The Bv 7-40 MK II= 1000:1 i contrast ratio: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/UserFiles/File/Products/Technical%20Specifications/BeoVision7_en.pdf

     BV 7-32 MK III = 1200:1  CR: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/UserFiles/File/Products/Technical%20Specifications/BeoVision7_en.pdf

And the new Bv 7-40 MK III have 2000:1 according to the Euro spec: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/UserFiles/file/Press/BVi7-40%20EU_PR.pdf

But the US BV 7-40 has only 1200:1 in contrast ratio..???: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/UserFiles/File/Products/Technical%20Specifications/BeoVision7_en_na.pdf

I´m about to send an e-mail to B&o and ask why the contrast ratio are different in EU vs US...?

Either it is an error in the specifications, or either the LCD screen manufacturing process has improved in the last few months.

Isn' t the Beovision 7 placed a bit too low for watching in  bed?

Unless you have an adjustable bed, watching in bed is easier when the TV is placed higher then in the livingroom.

Depends on the dealer. They will have had the training so it depends how much experience they have had programming them to date. One of our members recently published an extensive list of channel logos which will make that part of the job a lot easier for the moment. Will also depend on what you want your remote to do and how many zones (room setups) it will control? Its a powerful bit of kit but I would suggest the learning is ongoing. It works by programming macros so there can never be an end point really, which is what makes it a rather interesting product. Loving mine so far although I have a very basic setup indeed as only runs a BV7-40, BL7-2 and a BS9000. I will add more to it as and when I set up other rooms with B&O.

Our dark gray BV7 was scheduled to arrive at our dealer today. Not wanting to wait for it to be delivered, dealer is 3 hours away, we want to drive to the dealer and pick it up Saturday. How big is the box that the BV7 itself comes in?

You'd better drive a flat bed! The box contains the BeoVision 7 placed diagonally and is delivered on a pallet with the box strapped down. It requires the pallet to maintain enough structural integrity to move. Our store has a full sized van and it would not fit inside. We only transport them via freight carrier.

Not only is the box huge, but the TV is very heavy. Even the stand base is quite difficult for most people to manoeuvre in to place. You really need two strong engineers to move your BV7-40.

Why on earth do you have to pick it up from your dealer?

Our nearest dealer is three hours away from us. As a result the delivery options are they will ship it free, for $100 they will have a freight carrier deliver and unpack, or for $600 they will deliver and set up. Biggest reason we wanted to pick it up is we are eager to get it and do not want to wait for it to be delivered. Our dealer had said it was no problem to fit it in a large SUV and would be no problem for us to set up.

Based on what I am hearing here I may have to rethink that.

Trip, when you say you transport by carrier, do you mean you have carrier deliver and then your store technicians unpack and set up or do you mean you ship them to people some distance away and then the purchaser sets it up?

Re: My BV 7-40 MKIII Full HD Dark Grey has finally arrived! Pictures, info, and much more...!

The purchaser should never have to set up a new BV7-40. Setting up the stand, configuring the channels and making sure all the cables are connected correctly, is a major feat. Although I could probably re-congfigure my BV7-40, setting up from scratch would not be easy.

I can't move my TV unless I have someone to help. It's that heavy. Even with two people, moving the TV is by cm's, not metres! It's that heavy.

If I was paying £9000 for a new BV7-40, I'd expect free delivery and free install. In fact, I'd demand it. Get on to your dealer.

My recommendation for out of town sales is drop ship to the customer's home and bring in staff to set it up.  There is less shipping risk and cost.  I agree with the "major feats", plus "2 reasonably stout people lifting and removing carefully from the box so as not to damage the glass and immediately placing it on the stand of choice".  But if you think a full day x 2 techs to deliver and do that should be included in the price, that negotiation needs to happen before the genie is out of the bottle.  $600 is a bargain, from how I read it.

Is it really that difficult?  The tv weighs 99 pounds?  Correct?  Is that with or without the stand?

Programming channels is not that difficult. I have assembled and disassembled, packed and reassembled Beolab 1s, which are not light items. Connecting the speakers etc to a B and O tv is far simpler than a typical home theater set up.

I agree B and O stores should set up for free. We have two stores 3 hours away from us. Neither of them would do it for free. In the past the one did provide us free delivery, even offering it on items as small as a Beosound 3000.

Sure I can pay them to come do it but I might have to wait a considerable time and my wife and I want the TV sooner, not later.

As far as negotiation, we had  received a very sizeable discount, even if we pay the $600  we are still getting a bargain on the TV.

I can handle a normal 50" plasma by myself, but won't touch a BV7-40 without competent help. The system is "back-heavy" and you cannot allow the glass to bear the weight, which means the aluminum frame will soon start digging into both pair of hands. Then you have to place it lovingly on whichever stand you bought.  And I sure don't want to scratch the metal doing so.  Just one opinion.

And while I am proud to drive many miles to my client's home to set a system up, there is an investment in doing so.
