Three questions please.... 1) What problems arise? Are any of the speakers with foam surround?? 2) How do they sound in comparison to some of the powered speakers? say connected to the Beocenter 9500 3) Most importantly, has anyone "re-furbed" a set of these.....what tips to make them look new???? Thanks..

1. Yes, they do suffer from foam rot. 2. They sound excellent when driven by the correct amplifier. The 9500 is not really powerfull enough to show them at their best. It will loose control, in particular of the bass when driven hard. Much better with 5500/6500/7000. Just my opinion, others will not agree. 3. Difficult to refurb as new because the cloth on the frets is unavailable. Some have re-covered with similar cloth but it is not to my personal taste. Unless B&O is perfect and looks original then I'm not really interested.

I've got mine hooked up to my BM6500 & they run fantastically. Hmmm, anyone know where I can get a new band for one? It's snapped & sort of flapping in the breeze created by the cones moving an immense amount from gorgeously loud & clear sound.

Originals not available any more. This ebay seller does replacements but I've no idea how close they are to the originals. (I'm not connected in any way to this seller BTW and have no vested interest). Chris..

I've owned RL140 and used them with BeoSystem 7000. Excellent match in my opinion. I love RL speaker design and looks. White RL 140 with white BeoSystem 7000 would be something special to own.

The honest answer is I don't know! I've only had contact with one pair that had rot and the guy sent them to Recone in Huddersfield UK to be fixed. I assume it was the bass drivers.

I am thinking about getting this amp. How do you think they would sound with it?

Hello, replacement straps are available from Iconic AV. There is no lettering as on the originals but these will work.

Beowulf:
I had my driver surounds replaced by Recone Labs as mentioned above, all four cones came to about£250, they did a wonderful job returning them with rubber surrounds.
Seems like a lot of money did they replace the coil and spider etc...? I do know they have (had?) a good reputation though!

Iconic AV's replacement straps are very good in my opinion.
I received a pair of straps from them for some RL60.2's and they are as good as originals, except for there being no print on the straps.

Only the woofers suffer from foam rot. The midrange has a rubber surround. The I was able to refoam my pair without issue. Rather inexpensic
