    Re: RL60.2 Refurb Collaboration

    Good evening everyone,

Todd was able to come over today and re-do the first speaker recovering and also glue the strap grooves. Todd reports the straps have been ordered.

Previously, we fastened the speaker cloth the edge using "strategic" bits of double sided tape, and I wasn't entirely proud of it and got rid of it! When I recovered speaker #2, I tried doing what B&O did - fastening at the edge - and found that to work pretty well. However, instead of using glue, I used double sided tape.

In the groove just after the edge, you can see where I placed the tape.

By using a putty knife, it was very easy to push the cloth into the groove and press it onto the tape.

After some time, patience and hard work you will get a great result. During the process you will build up a mess...

With all the time left to let the glue dry on certain parts, we had a lot of time to goof around, here is one of our better discoveries of the day. The RL stand doubles as a... well... stand!

I already dug out my Swiss Army bag!

    So guess what arrived today...

A bit of mechanical challenge to be seen already....

I was told it has some cut wires inside - so much for my part of the fun Smile The meter part I'll try to fix already. Haven't had it opened yet.

Missing edge-parts and palisander finish will be handed over to you - you're ahead of my mechanical skills Stick out tongue

And of course the always-missing-preset-cover-thingy... There was a thread about having cassette cases converted to those. Asking your thrills Wink (I can throw in some cassette cases if in need...)

Something to test drive the RL60.2 in the future...

Me too, I started Backpacking back in 1966, no money so sleeping bag, underlay and a military rain poncho. Later in life, as travelling engineer, I visited, until now, some 55 countries, 1984/5 I was away from home more than 200 days, each year, In Hamburg I was on first name basis with a lot of stewardesses. Nowadays I make 1 or 2 trips a year just for fun. If they have had miles in these days I could travel for free today.

But when I see your pic, I get this funny feeling inside of me, time to get out on one more adventure, just cant let it be.

    LOL me too :-)

Brings back all sorts of memories ... not that I can claim to have been "on first name basis with a lot of stewardesses" :-(

But I did marry someone who worked for an airline :D

Good to see the spirit of adventure is alive and well in Evan ... perhaps Europe should lock up its stewardesses Laughing

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

I do enjoy traveling, but maybe not that much!!! That is dedication, sir.

I am trying to work out the trip still, I cant spend too much time getting to and from because all of this will be taking place during school, have to try and keep it short. Sad
