    yachadm:

Can you post some close-up pics of the actual laser unit and its flexible PCB.

You may have to do some disassembly here.

I'll try and identify the replacement laser for you.

    Menahem

Hi Menahem, here are some pics from the unit (I disasembled the PCB)

Tomorrow, I'll go through my laser database, but in the meantime, you should check the ESR of all those SMD electrolytic capacitors. Perhaps the laser is fine, but it is not getting good power because of bad capacitor(s).

Do NOT touch that variable potentiometer between the capacitors - it has nothing to do with laser power!!!!!

    Wonderful photo! Laughing

Do I see part of the insulating(?) wrap around the winding flapping about?

Yes, a swiss motor of remarkable quality that equips 4002/4 decks. I restored mine some time ago.

Sorry, no answer on that one - maybe it's an unnecessary question, but did you try your local B&O dealer?

Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

Hi and a Happy New Year!

As it is my first post in this forum I'd like to share my good mood because of finishing my work on my "found in the rubbish for free" Beocenter 1800.

Turntable motor wasn't running, some small but easy to find broken wireing issues and finally a not working speed selector.

But as of this afternoon everything is fixed and tested. And after a friend of mine told me his parents wanted to get rid of their Penta 3s - it even sounds more than wonderful!

On the first step I thought everything should stay original, but I couldn't help pimping the wiring a bit: Additional to the DIN jack it now has stereo Chinch jacks IN and OUT - even they are working perfect.

Maybe for the next step I'll try to revive my Sony D-99 Discman ;-)

    Greetings
    Sidi

My 3rd pair Penta's refurbished with new cloths and a selfmade perspex cover and stainless steel mirror panels (yes, again) for the amps.

For this I had to make something.Hmm Why not using a halogen lamp from a copy machine to do the bending of the perspex.Big Smile

Good job Leslie, I use to heat an iron tube, shaft or flat iron, depending on the bend type, but your idea is exelent, Hmm must check in the shack, there must be an old copier somewhere.
