Make sure to align the glaspanels properly the first time (with this tape) or else you have to do it all over again. This is really good stuff!

...and remove ALL of the old tape from both surfaces first, or the end result will be too thick, and... you have to do it all over again

And make sure you have fitted the right frames on the glaspanels (they're not all the same) or else you ....again

And don't forget - ends on first, then very carefully space the middle sections (use card) for the right gaps to match doors, or it will look wrong, and you will....

Have another one, do not forget to put in the nut first, in the left upper and lower frame or else

Been sitting on a defective 2400 purchased on the cheap last summer. Finally got around to tearing it open and fixing it. Had to canabalize a donor unit for an LDR and the tone control/balace sliders wre intermittant in provideing good contact. Probably fixable but I was lazy and just harvested that whole board as well.

Testing at low volume levels on FM5 dialed into NPR. Sounds wonderful.

Fix your sliders and keep in stock, I may need some later on , I play my BM 2400 with my BG 2404 every day now, but my S45s needs new surrounds and are getting worse for wear now. Your working space looks like mine, I use Tupperware for the screws and odd pieces, then I can put a lid on them for storage.

Listening to my rebuilt Beomaster 2400. My favorite of the flats. just a really nice smooth reciever. I have 2 that I have recapped and relamped in the last 6 months with one more to go.

At the rate I am going I will have as many as Burantek once had in a few years.

A toroidal transformer Evan, yes! Common in quite a bit of B&O stuff - I am sure more for it's dimensions than stability & regulation - strong points if you are wondering!.

A toroidal transformer also has a much smaller stray magnetic field than a regular E core (dunno if that name is used in English). This could've been an issue in many B&O devices simply because they are so cramped - look at the 3000-4000 series Beomasters for example, they have the conventional transformer inside a separate metal enclosure. But I'm sure the deciding factor has simply been the physical size.

Sorry for the sacrilege but I find this a good occasion to post this pic of my old Pioneer A-9 amp (1982 or so) I sold some years ago. With a max intake power of 820W, can you imagine how big and heavy it would've been with a regular transformer

BeoMaster 6500 has a motor inside for the cooling fan for the amplifierboard.

I have never seen one in B&O before! I have one toroidal amp at home (Niles). All the people at my local hifi store say toroid is the bomb.

Thats a doosey!! I am about to go install a cooling fan on my new Niles SI-275. Maybe I'll be able to snap a pic with the tin off Its not exactly close to that Pioneer you have but still big!

Good points tournedos. That is a heck of a beefy toroidal there!

Oh I like the phrase E core - I think we normally just refer to them as transformers, laminated transformers if you want to sound knowledgeable :)

BTW, I have always wondered how they make toroidal transformers... I am sure there is a simple way maybe like seamless shirts but it is one of those things that remain unanswered!!!

My BeoMaster 3400 also has a toroidal transformer - I think that it's something to do with more oomph per cubic centimeter, than anything else. 

And the flattish top-accessible units are squeezed for internal space, so a toroidal makes more sense.

The SI-275 is downwind of the BM4500 via Powerlink and an adaptation from Steve @ Sounds Heavenly.

Jeff, I figured by now you would have gotten yours all hooked up, have you? This amp is working hard for me, pushing 10 drivers with total ease. I'll get a review together asap!!
