I used silicone adhesive I bought at Ace to reaffix my glass panel it works and is not permanent

Just dont use epoxy. you will be screwed ;ater down the road if you need to get inside for service or for a general recap project.

I was thinking maybe doing up one of my cosmetically challenge pieces in white but using a laminate material in lieu of paint Or perhaps I could just paint that  mama pink.

Permanence is what I'm afraid of. I don't like adhesives Laughing

I was standing in my spray paint aisle and just thinking to myself what if I painted it lime green or even bright orange?!

I gave the lid its third spray, and the BeoMaster itself received three sprayings this morning before work. They were left on the outside table to dry.

Unwrapped, on the kitchen table is the lid, completed and simply amazing!

So not to lose the screws that hold the lid in place, I temporarily put them back in their places until the parts were ready to be put back together.

Once out, drop in the panel and relace the five screws.

Do not forget the little radio antenna connector, it must be reattached.

For comparison, here is a picture of the fresh white BeoMaster next to the original BeoGram. I think I much prefer the white! Definitely makes this feel much newer and more modern.

I agree = it looks really great

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

This picture doesn't do the damage justice. There is a series of small inward deformations along the crease of the lid.

This unit does have one thing going for it, the glass and bezel parts are still intact. Which ultimately means no damaged paint to fix! Not to mention the time I will save by not having to remount the operation panel.

    Anyhow...
Just like on the BeoMaster, the operation panel slides to the left when released by the internal catch. I used an ice pick to depress the part.

On the BeoGram it is easier to remove the wire harness at the point on the PCB of the Gram, rather than on the operation panel. This is the only way to remove it since the glass is blocking the access to the connections at the other end.

Before you remove the operation panel completely, open the lid under power. The lid comes off by sliding upwards once the tabs on the hinges are pulled away. The lid may then be closed so the unit can be wrapped for paint.

All I can see worth doing is applying some new lithium grease to the gears for the hinge motor. Belt is fine.

Just like I did on the Master, lightly rough up the surface with some 400 grit paper.

    Re: BeoSystem 4500 Restoration

    Okay all,

As the final coats of paint dry on the BeoGram, this thread will start to slow. I am starting back at school tomorrow.

Also, Chris is sending me some tape for the glass panels so there may be a short hiatus.

    Stay tuned!

    Evan
