It bores me. 64GB is not enough for any serious number of lossless CDs and I don't think it can stream wireless to my stereo.
It was "video kills the radio star" and now Jobs takes a 2nd stab at that by pushing low quality music onto our ears.

The iPad is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds, and has a 9.7-inch LCD screen. It's run by a custom-made 1GHz CPU, and comes with 16, 32, or 64GB of flash storage. For connectivity, it has 802.11n, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. Jobs claimed it will get up to 10 hours of battery life.
In addition to the built-in Apple apps, the iPad will also run third-party software. Senior Vice President Scott Forstall said that the tablet will run most existing iPhone apps unmodified, right out of the box. Those apps can run at their existing size in a black box or can be doubled to run in full-screen mode. Apple is also making a software development kit available to developers, to help create apps specifically for the new device.

Oh, come on. Be fair. I highly doubt playing or streaming music is the killer app for the pad. It's so much, much more. Besides that, who would want to pay the price for 256 or 512 GB flash in the mass market today? If anything even slightly near to the abilities of the pad would be introduced by Struer the servers of beoworld would collapse under the tons of cheering posts. Not that the Danes are able to...

mr_anders_son:

In my dream B&O will do a app that can pilot all my B&O gears with Ipad
B&O won't do it, because they can't... Keith might make one!

>>h, come on. Be fair<<
Note that I have Ipod Nano for gym, Ipod Touch for Travel, Macbook Air for Work, IMac fro Home. No Windows here. What I need is a decent way to get my music onto my Beolabs. Think a stylish Sonos.
I was hoping this is it, but its just a bigger Ipod Touch. I don't need that.

It looks a bit squat, or is it just me?

I know you are mac-friendly fellow. What about the pad in combination with the mac mini server? Losless music on the mini (with the calming comfort of a raid 1 device), delivering music digital to beolab 5 (still to buy ), controlled by the pad. I am sure something like this will be possible. And adding the infinite possibilities of the pad, even more with 3rd party apps. Nothing beosound 5 comes even close...

I have an Apple TV today so I can use Remote. I can deal with the slight delay even though an always on would be nicer. I am willing to manage my videos on my portable device, but I don't want to have to decide what music I carry with me. Neither do I want to manage multiple library.
I don't care if I have to pay 699 or 999 to be frank. I want something that just works. I like the idea of the Beosound 5 as a device that does one thing, it just doesn't do it that well as again it would force me to manage multiple libraries which gets old very quick.
I am a slave of content management I guess ......
P.s. Rather then upgrading my Ipod Touch I probably buy this though.

There are rumors of this coming to an end in the (near?) future via Apple...
Uploading content once to a cloud and syncing anything anywhere in the Apple world.

Assuming that most pople wil not be using the iPad for bulk storage the built in memory seems perfectly adequate.
At this price you could achieve multi-room by having an iPad in each room connected to multi-terrabyte NAS solution for less than the cost of a single Beomaster 5/Beoound 5 combo.
