Traditionally, bricklayers lay a row of bricks then spread a bed of mortar on them. The next row of bricks are held onto the mortar by gravity until the mortar dries, but this.....
I got to thinking about that last brick on the bottom row. Hey that'll fetch good money on eBay! This is me removing it , any offers anybody?Wink

After Ed and I had seen all there was to see, we headed back to the Grand, but I couldn't help but wonder how that building would have coped without security if it had been situated in Birmingham or Liverpool (no offence). I can imagine it with smashed windows and grafitti, perhaps some drug dealers round the corner.
Back at the hotel, Ed went to check if Lee had surfaced but, no joy so we went for a walk into Struer. Good heavens! It was a different place. All the shops were open and there was hustle and bustle all around, and this was Sunday!

    Poor me, never win owt!

After we'd had a Hot Dog from a stall on the street we went for a walk up to the Struer Railway Station.
Ed thought it might be nice to collect a few stones from the railway track and put them in a little yellow bag for his daughter. Strange people these DutchIndifferent

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

We left the railway station at about 12.30 and as we sauntered down to the marina we started comparing our Serenes.
I was curious as to whether the Dutch version had T9 predictive text and if it predicted in Dutch or English. Ed said it didn't have T9 but when I showed him to hold down the star button he was pleasantly suprised to find it actually did and it was in Dutch! (warm glow)
We sat at a table of a cafe overlooking the yachts and had a nice cafe latte basking in the early afternoon sun. Ahhh, Bliss.
Ed texted Lee to see if he was up yet. It was half past two and he'd had almost twelve hours sleep. Great, he was up.
Obviously, the first thing Lee wanted to do was to go and see The Farm so we went back up there and took similar photo's

Re: My trip to Struer. By Andy T. Photo's by Andy T.

After a short discussion, the three of us thought it would be nice to pay a visit to Frede, a gentleman who repairs and restores old B&O equipment. Frede lives on an island just off the coast called Venø. (You wouldn't believe how hard it was to put the diagonal line through the letter o on an English keyboard!)
Lee had his number on his Kikinoko 'phone so he rang Frede and asked him when would be convenient to pay him a visit. To our delight, he said now would be fine!
Ed  had bought his Tom-Tom with him so we entered Frede's address and off we went!
It was hilarious, Ed's Tom-Tom had the voice of Ozzie Osbourne, smashed and swearing like a trouper!
After a short drive, Ozzie drawled "Now catch the f***ing ferry"
    This is it!

The four men standing around were mending the steel hauser that is attatched to the counterweight that raises and lowers the loading ramp.
Nobody could get on or off the ferry until it was fixed. If you look in the previous photo', you'll notice that Venø is only a stones throw away, literally! After about half an hour the queue was this big.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Looking forward to the pic's from Frede's place. I've been a lucky visitor myself - and the Beolab/Beomaster 5000 in my avatar are Frede's work.

Nooooo!! I wanted to make some picture's of some trains that where comming into the train station at a speed of 250 Km/H, we have stones enough here, we made dykes of them.......

The trains were coming in the station at 250Kmph and you were standing on the tracks! Hmm You wouldn't stand there in the UK! They empty the waste onto the lines!! Laughing

Thanks lads for the vote of confidenceBig Smile

Eventually, the loading ramp was fixed and they managed to squeeze all the cars onto the ferry.
No sooner had we left the quay, we were slowing down for the other quay but they still managed to find time to collect £9 of us for the pleasure! I think Lee paid so I decided on the way back I would have the dosh ready to pay for the return.
After we disembarked, Ozzie directed us down the road for about 2 miles then slurred "In twenty meters, turn er right" Well I couldn't even see a road on the right! Needless to say in twenty meters Ozzie said more fervently "Turn right" Well Ed turned right down a little gravel track, we would have almost certainly missed it without the Tom-Tom!
After a hundred meters or so, Ozzie declared "You have reached your er f***ing destination" We looked to our left and I was smacked in the gob by the house we saw! Here it is

As we went down the steps to this lovely picture postcard cottage, Frede came out to greet us and cordialy invited us in. What a nice man, the kind of man that instantly makes you feel welcome.
We went into the room to the right and I think my jaw may have dropped noticeably at the sight of this (You'll like this photo' Peter)

After kindly sharing a bottle of wine with us over a long chat in his conservatory, Frede was kind enough to pose for a couple of photo's.
This first one with Lee and Ed (One of my favourite pictures)

And this one as he worked away on an old Beogram motor.
Notice the lack of debris on his work bench! I wish mine was like that.

Yes, I got kind of humbled by seeing how absolutely tidy Frede was keeping his place. I would need time to find a couple of classic B&O speaker plugs that I know I have somewhere in the kitchen ...

    Anyway, that's enough for tonight.
Tomorrow---- More guests arrive, we go out for a pizza and Monday morning B&O send a bus to pick us up for our official visit to The Farm.
I hope I'm not going to get in trouble for making this thread so looooong.
    Good night.
