Dixon Langeman:
Razlaw is correct with his price estimate. In the States, the BV7-55 is much less expensive than the BV9. The 9 is $21,900 vs $18,000 for a BV7-55 with BluRay, BeoLab 7-6, low floor stand, and Beo 5.
Personally I think the price difference comes from..
Yeah, but this is massively cheaper than the BV7-55 in the UK or Europe. Big markup here then :(

Dixon Langeman:
The tall stand is $1,500 and would work with your current BeoLab 7-4. The non-bluray BV7-55 is $11,000 so you'd be at $12,500 all in.
Eh? $11,000? Am I reading that right? Isn't anyone else in Europe angry that we're paying well over $20,000?

I just went to B&O to see the 7-55, that was amazing what I saw. I watched SD TV, Blueray and DVD. My 7-40 MKIV just crashed totally and should be replaced. Instead I got an OK offer to upgrade to 7-55 with the low stand, which I just today accepted. I will still keep my red BL 7-2 as my wife and I think it will suit the TV very well. The 7-6 is very wide (too wide for our taste).
Now I wait for a delivery date (in Denmark), can't wait.
There is something about B&O.....

went and saw it too (and the BV10, and the BeoTime) during a "Danish Day" promotion here this weekend
I could not even get near the BV7-55 for the crowd - it was a low stand model and looked gorgeous
and they had sold their first BV10 on the first day in the store ... but it was mounted "back to front" from all the demos I had seen ... which surprised me when I tugged it and it did not move :D
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

I don't think the BV7-55 will differ in this respect. It's built on the same chassis and software.
My BV7-40 MKIV has been crashing since May and still does, even under the latest sw 7.05. However, my dealer hasn't offered to upgrade to the BV9!

My 7-40 was a bad production, a lot of parts have been replaced, and at last (?) it crashed and the dealer could not turn on the TV again. I also had SW updates made several times, and it must be frustrating to be a dealer at B&O with all those SW problems.

This kind of information is the biggest holdback for me to pay 20k € for a TV. I've got the money and I can stand the comments from friends and family (they believe I'm crazy, and maybe they're right about that) but then I want a bullit proof state of the art TV lasting at least 20 years.

Forget the 20 years ....................... 3D TV is coming fast and then there is OLED and UltraHD TV etc etc..........................
Today's TV will be very lucky to be current in 5 years time! Look at B&O's TV's from 5 years ago - would you be happy to buy one now?

I would not like to buy a 5 years old TV, but maybe set 1 year old (as long as it is FullHD).
There has been a fast development in picture quality over the 10 years since flat TV came. The picture has been much better for every year, but now we have a very good quality. The weekness is now rather the source (SD) but HD broadcast, bluray and Internet is coming more and more.
The manufacters sales arguments are feeling more and more desperate. A lot of mumbo-jumbo. I'm not sure I can see any difference between the latest generations.
My eyes will still be analogue and will not be upgraded. Think they actually will be worse as I get older.
So let there be OLED or whatever. If I managed 20 years so far on a 4:3 CRT I can live 20 years with a 16:9 LCD.

I also agree, I really love the picture quality, and will wait until all our TV signals in SD are available in HD (or higher) for all channels, but that will take many years. And during that time, I will still have a TV with a great design, good picture quality and superb sound. And that will for me work for several years from now. I just hope that B&O will have control over the quality of their software in the future.

Well I can only support Daniels view here. I have now been the lucky owner of the 7-55 since Monday this week and I am still amazed by its picture quality. Of course it looks stunning when playing Blue Ray movies and also when looking at HD channels through Sky, but even with normal SD channels it looks very, very good. My receiver (Humax Icord HD) has an upscaling function, which removes much of the "cubic pictures" you normally see when making a closeup of such a large screen.
I replaced a BV7-40 MK I with this BV7-55 and for me there are huge differences in of course picture quality but also in the sound (I might be dreaming that, but it relly feels so).
I had the BV7-40 for 4 years and I do believe that the BV7-55 also have at least a 5 year lifetime. In the meantime you have a great TV with great Sound and great design - And though these TV's are expensive they also have a fair trade-in value which one should not forget.

Remind me to ask you in 5 years if you still have the same LCD TV.
I never sell a B&O, and I promise you I will not sell a 20k € TV after 5 years.

How much is it retailed in the uk?? ££££????
£15,500 ! You read that right :)
DVB-HD is for Freeview, not Sky.
HAHA! Somewhere in Beo HQ there's a group of people going:
"I reject to reality and substitute my own!"
Singing out loud !
hm .....
when your Black Label begin to taste like juice just take shot or two of Absinthe and

Dave:
Fair enough - I'm happy to be corrected, I have no particular axe to grind, it was more a comment on the current pace of modern TV (and broadcast format) development.
Just out of interest (I notice Trolle upgraded from his BV7-40 MKI within the 5 year period) how many members still have and are happy with their new bought BV7-40 or BV7-32 MKI's?
