    Re: Welcome BV7-55

Today I recieved my shops demo unit and all I can say is WOW! The picture is wonderful and I'm actually quite happy with the dimensions of screen and speaker (7-6). I was sure the Beolab 7-6 would look silly but after seeing it in person, I think it looks great. I was also weary at having the TV on the low stand, thought it would be too low but I do like the look and find it a very comfortable viewing angle.

Anybody in Atlanta who wants to take a look, come on by the Phipps Plaza shop.

The Blu-ray DVD mechanism in the 55" is no different from the 40" which you can view at your local dealer :)

I have some pictures but can't figure out how to post them! The blu ray load time is OK but  not as fast as a Sony PS3 or Panasonic BD80. I don't notice the loading noise that I hear on the BV7-40 which is an improvement.

The easiest way is to save them as a jpg on your desktop and then when, writing a post, press the options tab at the top of the post and you can then get the option to add a file. Using the browse but shown, find it on your computer, select it and then post. You can also load the files to your profile and do clever things but that never works for me!

Good of you to take the trouble - I have seen the BV7-55 but no pictures!

Are you sure that's not a store thing? ie. the BV7-40 MKIV's drive always sounds much quieter in the store, than my living room! I can't imagine they've switched mechanisms, already, due to economies of scale.

If I must then I will make the difficult trip to Dixon's store and on behalf of the forum do the always tedious task of taking pictures with my Leica M8.

    But only if I must.Wink

    Geez guys lighten up.  Beer

Here's a few shots of Atlanta's newest guest.  I can see how it'd be controversial but I have to say the image was very impressive.  I'd love to see it's proportions matched with either a BL7-4 or (out of curiosity) the BL7-2.

Sorry about the artsy first pic.  Just had the settings set to B&W for some reason and decided to just go with it.

    Re: Welcome BV7-55

    Thanks, Michael!

I must admit that the low stand look perfect with the 7-55. The BV9 is big with a height of 122 cm, but the 7-55 w/BL7-4 is a massive 144 cm - I find the lower sitting picture on the BV9 compared to the 7-40 w/BL7-4 much more comfortable (have a rather low sofa, too), so the 7-55 with the low stand is spot on.

But I have tried a BL7-2 in an all ALT-setup for a few months, and when replaced with the BL7-4 the center channel became just as clear and well defined as the other speakers - no need to crank up the center volume to hear the dialogue anymore. They should have sold the BL7-6 with a center lense that became active in a surround setup.

Thanks for the pics! Yes - thumbs up

I like the low stand more and more. Always thought I should go for the 7.4 as a center channel as I will use the telly with my BL8000. But it will be so big with the center channel.

Still wonder what they saved 7.3 and 7.5 for.

    • BL 7.3 for a BV 7-46? Same design as 7.2 but a little bit wider.
    • BL 7.5 a low ALT speaker for the low stand?

I'd still be interested to see if there are any taller stand options short of wall mounting.  Didn't have time to ask too many questions as I was having dinner nearby.  Speaking of...

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

If you order the 7-55 in the UK now, you should get it before Christmas. But you had better be quick! I don't think the 10 will arrive till after.
