Given the size of the panel, how well,or otherwise, does the TV handle LCD's usual drawbacks of motion blur, and black level?
Has anyone been able to compare the BV7-55's PQ against that of a BV4 or 9?
If so,any thoughts?

The difference is $1,800, just as on the 40".
MSRP is either $11,000, or $12,800 (all prices are USD, and exclude any applicable sales taxes, for those of you from across the pond) for the BV-7 55, stands/brackets and speakers are also priced seperately, and are a bit more expensive than on the 40".

You're quite welcome!
I imagine that some of the confusion on this point stems from the fact that all of the first production run were made in the natural aluminum, and equipped with the Blu-Ray. So all of the photos show it that way.

I never see any pics of the BV-7 sans drive. Does it look much different? I ask as it's tempting to consider the BV-7 with a separate component DVD/Blu-ray/Netflix player. That way there'd be no drive within the panel to eventually need to replace. Plus, it sounds like many of the third party Blu-ray players are better than B&O's when it comes to things like sound decoding (i.e. being able to do the HD stuff). Also, it sounds like the Beo 4's control of the BV-7's Blu-ray player is awkward.
Thoughts? Anyone have any pics of a BV-7 40" or 55" sans DVD / Blu-ray?

"Has anyone been able to compare the BV7-55's PQ against that of a BV4 or 9?"
Yes, and it is a different picture. The current BV4/9 plasma series have no major issues at all when it comes to showing moving pictures, power consumption, burn-in etc on the other hand... One thing I can't get used to on the 7-55 is the way the LED backlight works: try to watch a concert, and pay attention to the audience when cameras (the flash) goes off and note how a certain radius around "the flash"-point is lit, and then fades away. Weird. Also, the "dynamic" backlight turns parts of the screen from black to grey when turned on and this is very noticeable when you view the set from an angle - if you are used to the BV4/BV9 this will be very noticeable.

If I was planning to spend a staggering £15,000 on a TV (gawd knows how much it is in USD), I'd certainly go for the BV9 over and above the BV7-55. The picture isn't going to be any better than the BV7-40 and, indeed, could be worse (SD upscaled), has the same picture engine, same sound, same everything - just a 15" bigger screen for 50%+ more cash!
I had the option of buying a 2009-model 1080P BV9 the other day, for 20% off RRP (so, £12,000) and turned it down. However, if you were looking, perhaps a recent BV9 is a better option, with a discount?

If my math and figures are correct, in the US the BV7-55 is much better deal than the BV9. Price for a BV9 is $21,900, compared to $11000 for the BV7-55 without Blue-Ray. Add in a center channel speaker for around $4,000 plus a motorized stand which I am guessing around $1500 and the BV7-55 is $16,500, a savings of over $5,000 and a bigger screen with the ability to tilt forwards and back, not just side to side.
Obviously if one prefers plasma to LCD then the price difference become less important.

Wow, that can't be right? Over here it's £15,500....which is $26,000 inc the stand and 7.6. Are you sure that price is right? I can't believe B&O would sell the same TV with a $10,000 price difference between the UK and USA? Weird.
Can any States-based dealer confirm and also explain the huge difference in price?
The BV9 is about the same price as the BV7-55 over here - only a few hundred pounds more expensive. However, there are a few appearing second hand (in mint condition), making it better value.

I'm in no way defending the 50% difference, but the screens are not the same.

In Sweden, BV9 costs over 200k SEK. Don't know exactly but i guess somewhere 210k-230k SEK.
BV7-55 with BD costs 180k SEK.
Divide with 9 to get it in €.

For the BV7-55 prices I used figures quoted by a US dealer in a post, about 8 posts before yours in this thread. For the BV9 and BV7-40 I used prices from Abt Electronics webpage, dealer we have purchased many of our items from.

Razlaw is correct with his price estimate. In the States, the BV7-55 is much less expensive than the BV9. The 9 is $21,900 vs $18,000 for a BV7-55 with BluRay, BeoLab 7-6, low floor stand, and Beo 5.
Personally I think the price difference comes from the costs of material and labor to build the cabinet of the BV9 and possible a higher cost of the plasma panel.
Also, while the BV9 is still a current product, we are no longer required to show it in the stores. The BV9 concept just never really took off in the States and it is on it's way out. Take a look at the pre-owned section on the B&O website and you'll see nearly every store selling their floor models. Maybe a chance to get a good deal. (not an advertisment as I've already sold mine

Without Blu-Ray would it then be $16,200? What is the price of the tall stand? We are interested in the 7-55, already have a 7-4 we would use and do not want the built in Blu-Ray. So price would be $11,000 + stand?

The tall stand is $1,500 and would work with your current BeoLab 7-4. The non-bluray BV7-55 is $11,000 so you'd be at $12,500 all in.

Is B & O using a Samsung panel in the BV7-55?
The reason I ask is that,as far as I am aware,Samsung's 2009 LED TVs embody edge lit LED arrays, and do not feature local dimming.

Re: Welcome BV7-55
I love ABT electronics.
The prices do not include VAT. Each state is sovereign when it comes to sales tax. The federal government does not impose any sales tax. Although the Feds are able to tax us in many other ways.

Peter :
If you order the 7-55 in the UK now, you should get it before Christmas. But you had better be quick! I don't think the 10 will arrive till after.
I hope this isn't the case for BV10 in Scandinavia. I ordered mine when it was introduced a few weeks ago, and was quoted week 49 (this week) or 50 for delivery. It would be somewhat disappointing to get it as late as after Xmas (although there's nothing disappointing at getting a BV10 ;).
If B&O cannot deliver BV10 before the holidays, they shouldn't promote BV10 on their web site's front page as one of the perfect Xmas gifts...
I hope my dealer can confirm the schedule for BV10 soon.

My dealer informed me of the same - BV10 will not be available before beginning of the new year.
Another good argument to buy the BV7-55
On Monday I will get my BV7-55 installed, and I can not say how much I am looking forward to that No I only wait for the BS5/BM5, which because of motherboard problems have no delivery time currently
