thanks for posting the picture, does anybody know if the BV 10-40 will have the BS3 and/or a Blue Ray drive? If there will be a BV 10-50 i can't imagine that it will be sold without a BS3..?

How can it be? It's only a few cm thin! As we already know it's based on the BV8-40 chassis, there's your answer. No BS3. There won't be a Blu-ray drive in the TV either as there is no room for the drive. You can just use a separate drive.

I take it that the picture is a photo shopped Fujitsu? The stand is not a B&O design. The proportions are not quite correct either I believe.

    Re: BV-10 screen sizes

Thanks for your answer but the TV has no room for the drive? As far as we know yet the BV 10 will be around 6 cm thin. If Sony offers with the TT series a complete high end notebook with Blue Ray drive which is 2,3 cm thin since february (for about 2000 euros), it should be possible for B & O to get the BS3 and a BR drive at the end of the year into a 40" TV (expected around 7000 euros).

I know only a few people would then buy the new BV 7-55 (expected around 15000 euros) which offers these two features but for me this is another good example why many B &O fans around the world complain that B & O offers old technology without those inventions which are neccessary beside the design to justify such price differences in comparative to other high end TV's.

Obviously it's originally a mirror image of the pic posted above... like B&O would spell the name in large italics in the middle of the frame Stick out tongue

B&O aren't Sony. You're expecting too much. Remember the BV10 is a mid-range TV (just above the BV8) at a mid-range price. You're wanting BV9 tech in a EUR 7000 B&O TV. I don't know how much the BS3 is in Euro's, but I'd guess the BS3 alone is more than the RRP of the BV10-40.

Moxxey is correct. The BV10 is less than 2/3 the price of the BS3 (USD). It has great value in that it does have surround sound, ML, PUC, and VisionClear, but not the full outfit of the BeoSystem 3.

So the special offer on the US BV8 is permanent then? That wold be really a deal then .... will be interesting if that brings in a new audience into the stores  .....

My dealer told to me, the BV10 comes in a combination with the BL10. Des design is a FlatTV interpretation of der the AV 9000 tv.

The AV 9000 was the usually sold tv in the B&O history.

Are you sure? That's just a dealer-based guess I think. From what's been said here, and what I know, it doesn't ship with the BL10. I guess it might be able to be used with the BL10, but it might look a bit odd on a 40" TV?

Have you seen the Loewe Reference 70 ? I know it´s a lot bigger, 70" but about the same thickness as BV 10 and also have a thin aluframe.

Your dealer needs to lay off the sauce. The BeoVision 10 is a single piece solution like the BeoVision 5 and completely 100% triangle free!

This is an interesting point. I have every reason to believe it will. I think once you lower the price on an item and find traction with that price, you'd be ill advised to then raise it by 25-30% again. This would mean the BV8-32 @ $2,900 and the BV10-40 @ $5,500, both being complete solutions. This is excellent news for the US market which has never had the benefit (or burden as it sometimes seems) of the full video lineup.

    Re: BV-10 screen sizes

My expectation is that we will see the 7-55 well before the BV-10.

From what I have been told, and allowed to see, the BV-10 is spec'd the same as the BV-8/40, but in appearance it is the true successor to the BeoVision 5, and I am really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.  If it helps, the photo of the Fujitsu posted and altered elswhere in this thread looks far too much like B&O's previous efforts.  If someone were to imagine the illicit love-child born of the coupling of a BeoVision 5 and an iPhone, I think you might be on a better track.

To clarify, the BeoVision 10 will not be made of human flesh. It will be made mostly of metal, silicon, plastic, and jam.

My understanding is that cut-backs at the factory are a bit deeper than expected.  Marmalade is right out.  Beyond that....

    Back to the original topic:

    js:

Will there be smaller screen sizes (i.e. 26, 28, 32) as well?

Or will the small/medium size amateur (who does not want to overwhelm his room with a large screen) remain limited to BeoVision 6 and 8?

    Cheers, js

If there will be smaller variations on the BeoVision 10 it has not been mentioned. My guess, based on the form factor, is that we wouldn't see it smaller than 40 as its form factor precludes it from fitting somewhere a similarly sized screen could go. It would be like having a 28" BeoVision 5! Very cool to think about, but not very practical.

And as far as we know, and barring any innovations by Gavin @ STB, this will be a wall mount only TV.
