When the new BV7 - 40" mk IV arraive in april with blu ray, does any one know if it can play all new HD sound formats incl DTS Master. Will it be a profile 2,0 so its can be opdatet over internet.
I know that it will be Full HD, 100Hz panel, but will it be 24p?
What can you all tell me about the new BV7..........

Based on recent history, I don't think you want an open door for Bang & Olufsen software to find a way onto your TV!

No one dare comment for fear of sparking the BS3/BV7/HD audio argument again!
Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

B&O have decided that future (high-end only?) BeoVision's shall be able to connect to the internet to receive S/W updates.
DTS-HD: BS3 works fine today as long as you have a bluray player that will decode the DTS-HD signal and pass it on as multi-channel PCM. Based on the spec's I've seen they haven't included TrueHD or DTS-HD among the BS3 sound formats, so I do hope that the new internal bluray will do the decoding and pass it on as PCM to the BS3 - anything else would be embarrassing for B&O.

Flappo... no one mentioned wireless...

So? The Avant was a Philips-made tube!

Oh god, good point. As I'm assuming the existing drive is merely a drive with a scart-type cable to the main motherboard, I seriously doubt they are going to get a chip capable of decoding the audio then passing it to the BS3, in the new Blu-ray internal drive. Surely the drive would merely be a drive mechanism update?
Why? Well, it's a drive mechanism replacement for the existing BV7-40 MKIII (and only £400, which is 'cheap' for B&O), so there's no way you are going get True HD decoding built-in to a £400 internal player.

From what I heard they're switching to Sharp panels. I have this from what I would say is a somewhat good source.
Meaning not always right, but more often so than wrong :-)
BV 7-55, BL 7-4, BL 9's, BL 4's, BL 3's, BC 2300, Beo5, Beo4

Re: BeoVision 7 - 40" MK IV
24p = Yes Mk III and MK IV got 24p support.
And moxxey it´s not a scart cable between the dvd drive and the motherboard. They use computer IDE Ultra ATA cabling..
And they are going to use Sharp panels in the new BV8-40 and the new Bv7-55, but the Bv7-40 MkIV they still use Samsung, but the new 2-4ms 120Hz Ultra Glare panel.
Samsung are far ahead Sharp in LCD technology, so i don´t think you should be disappointed because of that..

Re: BeoVision 7 - 40" MK IV
The MKIII does have 24p, you just need the newest software update.
From what my dealer told me, the BV7-52" was put on hold due quality issues with the 52" panel.

I think you miss my point entirely. I have no idea what cable is used from the mechanism to the motherboard, but I do assume that there is no audio decoding done on the mechanism side (and that's the point). So, if they insert a Blu-ray mechanism, then this is unlikely to decode the HD audio before passing to the TV motherboard. It will have to be done by the BS3.
Unless I'm wrong - and I hope I'll be wrong - this would mean that the internal Blu-ray drive wouldn't decode the audio to the level of, say, the Playstation 3.

No, they simply use a ribbon cable. IDE Ultra ATA is merely a method of parallel data transfer, which doesn't mean it's similar in any way to the way the data is carried from the DVD mech to the BeoVision 7-40 chassis.

Re: BeoVision 7 - 40" MK IV
Moxxey i understand you perfectly, but i just hanged up on the "scart cable - sound issue" sentence you wrote.
The dvd player is only a transport, and only read the information on the disc and then the motherbord´s onboard software and audio / video processor´s (DAC´s) decodes the picture and the soundstream.
And yes Alex it is a ribbon data cable, but not as wide as an IDE cable. I just wrote IDE so people here understand what sort of cable i menth, but they look the same but thinner.
