Who knows more about a 'new' beosystem 3? What is new about it? New soundprocessor? Will the old one be upgradable? Very curious since I am in the market to buy one. Bieele

Hi Bieele Actually I don’t know the difference ether, but I can see that the type # ( in the new pricelist Jan 2009 ) has changed from 9600 to 9615. If anybody what we can expect from the “new“ BS3, I’m very interested to. Could also be nice to know when this new BS3 are implemented in BV9… Kim

Very curious, indeed. Haven't heard of an MkII as some have mentioned. Have heard of the inclusion of DSP but everything else discussed, hardware or software related, would be able to be fitted or swapped into the existing chassis. Of course, several type numbers have developed simply because of the changing of interior components. This doesn't necessarily mean an upgrade, downgrade, or sidegrade.
There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin

In the German forum in a thread discussing the european dealer conference it was mentioned that the BS3 would get an enhanced soundsystem in spring. Older BS3 could receive a hardware update, http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/thread/139933.aspx So this might be it. Cheers JK

It would be great if the "enhanced" sound system not only included HDMI 1.3 and DSP, but also a coaxial digital output so that those of us trying to use the BS3 as an audio head in an A/V system could directly connect BL5s in the most advantageous manner. M

I wouldn't say new, it does have though a different part number in the new price list and an "updated" sound system was announced in the german thread I am refering too. Cheers JK

Theres no difference except for a RAM upgrade. As far as I can tell the MKI units will be upgradeable.

What I think is new: " Rumour go’s Beosystem 3 new feature will be the possibility to set up the place the viewer actually is in the room. So to speak “where we Beoworlders are enjoying our movies in our own cinema!”. To adjust the (Dolby) speaker setup. Not sure if it is software only….(who knows?)
(A bit like in the premium Audi’s with advanced B&O sound system. One can setup All, Driver, Front, Rear etc. (DSP Bang & Olufsen setup)
Regards, Robert

The_Beonic_Man: New BeoSystem 3 ... are you sure? I don't think so. Far too early for that in my opinion. What 'really' could be improved? Simon.
Add USB and add a SD card reader possibly. Who wants to improve more on the BeoSsystem 3? Regards, Robert

That feature would be software only. Another rumoured feature is the possibility to plug a microphone, place it in the middle of the room and get the system to calibrate itself automagically.

That seems to make sense; very useful feature, that can improve sound quality in many cases. Furthermore this would explain the need to make some hardware changes and also a lot of other brand (high end) processors have this feature. Bieele

I just contacted B&O via online form.
The BeoSystem 3 MK II is already mentioned in their menu (Video --> BeoSystem --> MK II. Curious what's new...

If you go to "Contact us" on the B&O site I selected under Product category Video ---> BeoSystem3 and then you can choose between MKI and MKII...
I don't know how to post a screenshot!

It's a RAM update necessary for the new AST and that's it!
I have one in my store ... there's absolutely no difference besides the extra RAM and maybe some different internal components. Also, just as an FYI "older" units can be retrofitted.

Is it also possible to retrofit a BV7 MKIII? Does AST function once the extra RAM and internal components are fitted?

Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

No ... the AST function is going to be enabled on a future software update. As of right now it's still greyed out in the menu.
Also, as far as I know any BeoSystem 3 based product should be upgradeable.
