Do I buy the Stylus direct from Bang & Olufsen or from that New York chap? Actually do you think the MMC4 will fit?

The BeoSound 5 will not require a stylus.

What? The BS5 won't play my 20yo LPs?

Really? How does it read the grooves on the record?

I must say I find the design OK, but I can't help wondering: would I pay 10 times the price of a BeoPort to have what I already have with BeoPort connected to my TV ? With my PC video signal going to BV7 and a cordless mouse + keyboard, you have the same thing on a larger screen, haven't you?IndifferentIf the BeoSound screen is not touch sensitive, what is the benefit? Just design? The functions in an audio link room remain exactly the same, it might be interesting to know if a video link room can get BeoMedia display on the screen. And a digital signal please!

Great to see that it can play videos now, and much more formats than BeoMedia, however 500 GB is large for audio only, but already small for videos; I have a 500 Gb disk for video & it is already full(I store movies in lossless format, OK), I needed to buy another 500 Gb drive for music files..Why can't B&O simply fit a USB socket to their audio & video masters, then design only the software part, and people would simply plug their SD card or 1 Tb disk at their convenience??It would make the products more compact, future proof and not dependent on any storage standard.

    Reunion Island is greeting you!

Does that £3500 include the Beomaster 5 moxxey? I'm going to assume it does...

Not all that much more than a BS9000 or BC2 new at their current prices, and as we all hope BS5 will be offer more functionality in our digital age!

£3,500?? – I was told around £1700 at the Knightsbridge store. It had better do something impressive for 3.5K.

I was originally told £2500, so £3500 was a lot more than I'd expect to pay. Demo units are with dealers 'within a month', so we should be able to see for ourselves, soon..

My local shop is now saying demo units after the New Year.  Angry

I have always heard $5500USD or so, now $6000 seems pretty close.

Do you have a BeoSound/B&O CD player? If so, why spend the money on this when you could just play music from your computers' CD drive?

The BeoSound 5 is not a fancy bit of software, it is a physical, touchable, useable product!

£3500 equals $6102.00 at todays US exchange rate.  This seems to match.

The crux of the question, and this almost seems like a net vote, On what you see from pictures and rumours, for the moment......... Is the Beosound 5 the savour of B&O?

oh that's just great at that retail price it'll probably be on sale here for $14,000, wow I can just see everyone queing up to order one right now - NOT Big Smile

I tend to agree with earlier though why would you want this is you have that functionality with BeoPort now?!

It remains to be seen what Beosound 5 really is.  We have only gotten a glimpse of it but the design is interesting and very B&O.  I am not going to plan on selling my Beomedia 1 just yet.

What is interesting is the posts on this thread are quite varied.  Some are interested in design and some worry about the technology.  I guess we will just have to wait.  If anything when Beosound 5 is introduced at my local dealer, I hope they put on a great party with lots of wine and food!
