    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

    MKE:

    I have a new BV 9.

Had all the same problems with SW 4.24.

The TV crashes (turns off) and the Blue-Ray films played on PS3, jumps as described earlier in this thread.

Now the TV software has been upgraded, SW 5, but i still have the same problems. Nothings changed.

So for how long shall I wait??? B&O has a major problem here. It's just not good enough!!!!!!

Well, if you still have crashes, then i bet th SW is not updated correctly, since 4.95 i had not had any crash issu, i have not had i updated to 5.0 yet, but it will be this week.

If your SW has been correctly updated, perhaps you should try the thing, where you "learn" the tv the settop box on/off states.

    ****

     ·
    New set-top box standby options:
OFF AT SOURCE CHANGE: Use this setting for set-top boxes that start up quickly or are noisy when running.
OFF AT TV STANDBY: Use this setting for set-top boxes that are slow at starting up.
ALWAYS ON: Use this setting for set-top boxes that are slow at starting up and often used.
MANUAL CONTROL: Use this setting for set-top boxes that you want to control, or if power ON/OFF is not possible (the television does not try to switch the box on or off). Some set-top boxes has the on/off function implemented via Beo4 meaning that GO + 0 sends an on/off command, but this does not apply to all boxes.

    IMPORTANT!
After updating the software, you must enter the CONNECTION menu and go through the "standby options"
for all connected set-top boxes to determine which setting suits the box best (see above).
When settings are made for all set-top boxes, leave the television on (the source must be TV, even if there
is no signal) and switch all connected set-top boxes on and then off one by one. This teaches the television
how the video signal changes with each box.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

I agree, after upgrading to 5.00 there have been zero crashes at this end. But I saw that the service tool, by default, tried to upload 4.24a - and that you had to hit the pulldown button to see and select the 5.00 version. I would give the dealer a ring and verify that you actually have 5.00 installed.

Not too sure if they have sorted out all the HDCP-issues, teletext through HDMI etc - but it can now handle the STB correctly via the PUC and, as stated, the BV9 crashes have gone.

If none of the numbers are with red text, then you have a complete build, i have SW4.95 and there are H8 and some others in red text, which means that the TV doesn't have the complete build package. If all your SW numbers are in black text, then you should be fine.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

Hmmm, did you use the "auto install" feature when updating? I would do the H8 manually and try the rest when this is successfull - if you still struggle the recommendation is to unplug and wait for 45 sec after each module before moving on to the next one.

There is a new thread on this topic but thought I would post regarding it here also. The other thread mentions having 5.0 installed on a BS3 and the sound menus now having an option of  "adaptive sound technology" although it is marked as disabled. Any info on this feature?

No, I updated first H8 and then one by one, unplugging the TV after every update for about 1 minute. After all updates, I checked the SW with the Service Tool and it said no updates needed.

I asked to the technical Service in Spain, they said red numbers were normal.

Remaining errors in Beowise about SW 5.0:

For the time being the "Built Info" is not updated, this means that the "Built Info" remains the same as before the update, and updated software is marked in red in the Customer Service Menu.

Maybe it will be fixed in the next SW update, expected by end of week 49.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

    moxxey:

Hey, my dealer only answers a select few emails about the BV7-40 sw ;)

Since buying the BV7-40 MKIII in Dec 2007, here are my major sw issues:

    1) Problem with the white flash with Blu-ray players and the PS3 in 1080p mode. Fixed with sw 4.24a. Annoying, but not as bad as...

    2) Problem with BV7-40 crashing to 'off' in July 2008, after sw 4.24a installed. Annoying, but not as bad as..

    3) Problem with link-room BV8-26 (which is connected to the BV7-40, which has the Sky HD box) which will now display that HDCP warning since sw 5.00a was installed on Monday afternoon. This issue doesn't happen if the BV7-40 is on in the other room, but that's hardly a 'solution'.

To me, these are three key usage problems. Ironically, the link room issue is probably now more annoying than the crash-to-off problem.

So, 12 months of use, three key sw issues.

I don't have much knowledge of TVs from Panasonic, Sony or Pioneer, but do their users experience these kinds of issues? ie. TV crashing, showing an annoying white flash in 1080p mode etc?

Well I think you know the answer to the last question! of course owners of Sony and panasonic do not experience thesekind  of issues.

HDMI im afraid is a minefield- I do now quite  af ew lesser manufactuers that push out product that they doubt will work properly when thus connected simplay because they dont have the resource to check.

Unfortunataely, B&O are charging premium money but cant spend time investigating possible issues prior to release, otherwise their profits would be less! Im sorry to say that at the present time B&O are between a rock and  ahard place and even the latest product the BS5 confirms they have a long way to go.

Don´t you remember i answered to your question last mounth..?

The name on the method will be DSS and can adjust the sweet-spot to several listeners or direct it to a different area if you got a big room.. This option will be introduced in the BV7-40 Mark IV with 100Hz, DSS and inbuilt HD DVB-T-S (and in the new BS3 ...)

    what does that actually mean?????

This is the list of the changes to the TOOL and not the SW 5.02. It only specifies that too 0.5.4.3 now includes SW 5.02, and that there has been fixed som bugs in the tool iteslf.

F.ex "sorted newest first" just means, that the list now contains the newest packages in the top of the list instead of last :)

We still need to se a fixlist for the SW5.02 itself.

    Re: BV7 40 MKIII / SW 4.24 problem

You are a demanding bunch, but since Xmas is just around the corner:

    New features

     1.
Support for DVB-HD (only released in some markets). Please be aware that we will release a DVB-HD-related SW in March 2009 (to support the added markets).

     2.
As of this SW release, the TV menus are black instead of grey and are placed on the left side of the screen. There is no change in menu structure and function.

They think we're just eating grass....
