What about PC office and Beoport? I heard that PC Office could play with the PC switched off, something the Beoport (and possibly PC2) can not do.

    Cheers,

    Correction.
In daily use you don't see any difference between Beolink PC2 and the Beoport.
The first Beoport boxes even state Beolink PC2 on the side.
But the Beoport has an improved printed circuit board.

Can I use the Beoport in my home-office with my Windows powered PC and by plugging in my Beolab 8k ? Can it act like a "master" ?

You can update both to the same latest firmware, and it is easy to do, so go for a pc2 without problem.

The PC2/BeoPort can act as a master.

    Hi Andy,

I think it's the softwareversion of the Beoportplayer you've mentioned.

The latest firmware of the beoport is 1.31.

But that it's only shown in a dialogbox on a Mac. With the pc software you can't see.

Mine has 1.30 and both the pc or Mac aren't able to update the firmware.

The 1.31 firmware is the one you need to use BM-link 1.5. Which has, as you probably know, more feedback to the 3000/3200/9000.

If you using the beoport/pc2 only with a pc, the 1.31 isn't that much interesting.

Cheers for that, Beobuddy. Being a bit thick, I was confused by firmware and software. I hope I haven't confused the issue even further Embarrassed

The figure I quoted was from right-clicking on my Beoport icon then selecting 'properties'

Yes and no.  There is no screen that allows one to enter the option numerically.  However, there are configurations settings that you can make that will change the option settings.  In BM-Link 1.0 (what I have installed), you can set option 4 (so the IR responds to Link commands only).  There might be more in a later release.

Re: Difference beolink pc2 and beoport

Hmmmm ... Remembering the problems that people had in the past with upgrading their units which even involved replacing it I would probably skip buying a used beoport unless the software is reasonable close to current or you have a real good dealer relationship. Or the price is low. Just my 2 cents .... JK

I purchased one from Lee @ Lifestyle AV last year, and it accepts all software upgrades thus far.
