Thanks Craig, Thanks Die, Will give it a try over the coming weekend. Appreciate your suggestions and hope that this will help identify and hopefully lead to fixing the problem! Best regards, Eric

Since about a year ago my DVD-1 seems to be becoming less and less reliable. After having played for about half an hour it starts making ticking noises, skipping tracks and soon thereafter it can't read the disk anymore. I have to switch the unit off, let it cool down and a little later can use it again, but only for a short while until the same

Hi Martin, Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to write down your experiences in a way that reads like a novel, and no doubt inspires others to undertake similar (or -in my case- simpler) repair projects. Being able to bring a piece of beautifully designed vintage equipment back to life must be a very rewarding feeling. This is highly enjoyable

Hi Martin, Thanks ever so much for your active help and encouragement without which I certainly wouldn't have come this far. I hope one day I can make some small contributions to the Beo community myself, but for now I am in 'learning mode'! Your tip with respect to the tone controls is spot on, they work fine now! I'd just misunderstood

Just a quick update and follow-up... In further re-assembling the unit, I found that when I put back the large black heatsink it actually also helped 'centre' the middle part of the chassis that holds the right-hand hinge of the aluminium cover plate. Sorry if this sounds complicated but I'm glad it did the trick. Only remaining problem

The article describes the BM8000 partial disassembly but not so much what comes after it... By the way, well done on your own restauration project. Unfortunately I do not master

One of the common issues with the Beomaster 8000 seems to be the fact that some of the LED display segments fail. I am currently working on one unit which is operating again (thanks to Martin's re-cap set, and many hours of cleaning, re-soldering, adjusting, etcetera), and sounds really great. Transparent, balanced and noticably effortless sound

Thanks Martin, Good thought, that may indeed be the pointer into the right direction. After checking again I did notice that the mains plug (Continental European plug into a UK converter) made an unreliable contact, which could explain the kind of switching noise you described. I'll keep your suggestion in mind and if it ever happens again unplug

After having refurbished my Beogram 8000 (with new capacitors and recently with Martin's excellent stainless steel tacho disc) it played wonderfully for about 2 weeks. Warm and full sound on a BM6000 with MS-150's connected (my BM8000 is still a 'project' to be completed). Then suddenly the platter would no longer start spinning when
