  • Re: BEOSOUND OUVERTURE LASER NOT WORKING

Hi Martin: >The CDM drives are interchangeable, the laser pickup can move from one type to the other drive, it is possible to transplant a pickup. If it is the CDM 12 drive that's in this unit, my personal experience is that this is not universally the case! Firstly, the mech may not be interchangeable. I think there are a few variations out

Send it to Atlantic-Systems in Hanover MA. I'm sure it won't cost nearly that much!

Hi Martin: Thanks for the quick reply. Let me replace the tantalums. I've replaced all of the electrolytics a while back as you may recall. What about the flim capacitors? Are they stable? The power supply seems fine. Now that the problem has been come more regular I do notice some tracking error which is audible to my ears. Is the mistracking related

  • Beogram 4002 AC version Arm lowers and then pops up

Hi Dillen and friends: I have a BG 4002 that has developed a new problem. When I press play, the arm will move to the play position, lower and then a few seconds later it will pop back up and return to rest position. This appears to be an intermittent problem but now is happening much more frequently than before. The turntable won't play from begining

Andy: There is lettering on the underside of the glass. Hold the panel up to the light and you will see. After masking off the appropriate area and adhering the lettering to the underside spray the glass with a matte black spray paint. I'd use the high temperature kind used for appliances (ie stoves and furnaces) as they are more durable. Derek

Andy: It's a smoked or tinted glass that is tempered. The problem is getting it cut and the edges precision ground off. Most glass cutters I know use a diamond tip cutter and then grind of the edges. This is great for glass tables and shelves but doesn't quite fit the bill for B&O. If you can find someone to cut the glass properly then it

  • Re: Need assistance in restoring Beogram 8000

The pin is not supposed to stick out at all! It goes flush into the chasis and folds over. Nothing sticks out. These things sold for over a thousand dollars in 1980s. I don't think anyone would have bought one if it looked as your pictures describe. It is possible that it is not an original pin!

Trust me the bent pin is properly designed! It is used to attach the metal chasis to the composite frame. Be very careful about how you "fiddle" with it. The pin is not designed to support the chassis cover in open position. Any leverage and you can crack the fingers that hold it in place. This pin slides all the way in and the recesses by

  • Re: Need assistance in restoring Beogram 8000

Chris: I've not used epoxy putty before so I cannot give an opinion in terms of strength and brittleness once cured. The 8000 had beautifully designed electronic innovation but sadly not so good enclosure. The hinge is under too much pressure and doesn't hold up well over time. The 4000 is beautifully designed the entire chasis and hinge is
