  • Re: Beogram 8000 Solenoid :(

Interesting. Next time this is open I'll have a play around in there. Interesting that component replacements can't correct this. Do you think it has something to do with the leaf spring in the tonearm assembly? It could relax over time and loose some of its pre-stressing. This could give these unsmooth tonearm lowerings. Just a thought. Please

Wow, thanks for the comments guys! Chartz - As the arm gets to the correct place on the record, theres a very short (very) before the needle drops. However, it is quite a harsh drop, so I'm hoping a cap replace will assist this? Theres a bit of elastic in the tonearm spindle, but I have replaced the belt which has semi solved the problem, but a

Hi guys, Sorry this reply has taken so long! I completed the fix months ago, but only just got roung to posting :S Anyway, one turn of wire off, and resoldered OK first time round: but I must have damaged the wire in between soldering (after which I measured the resistance) and installing, So it all had to come back out, get a fresh bit of wire (just

Hi, and thanks for the encouragement for a fix! Im not expecting to be successful with this, but its worth having a go. My soldering iron is adjustable, so I'll put it on the lowest temperature to try. I will report back with results!

  • Beogram 8000 Solenoid :(

Hi all, Currently working on an BG 8000, with a non-dropping tonearm issue. After much ado with getting new drive belts for the tonearm spindle drive, a good lubrication, and performing all the adjustments in the service manual, there is now a voltage across the coil (or so it seemed). There is still no drop of the tonearm!! At this point a manual push

  • Re: Beomaster 6000 - excessive clip protection

Thanks for the quick reply Martin, I had a feeling that would be the case!! I'll have a gander at the circuit diagrams tonight and see whats what in there. I know for a fact the RIAA needs attention, so the whole lot in one go may be on the menu. Sam

  • Beomaster 6000 - excessive clip protection

Hi all, long time since I've been able to play about with some B&O, but when I got home this week it was time! I've had this BM6000 in my uni room for the past year connected to some S80.2's, and as the volume ascends above 30 the clip protection circuit overrules everything and switches the unit off. Its quite a battered one, with a

  • Re: Beogram 8000 - no spin!

Thanks Martin, Once I'd done a search within "beogram", i did find a similar thread. Apart from the usual suspects (solder, caps, tacho) I think this may be the nylon bearing insert problem, as the guy clearly hasn't removed the platter before moving it. and there was a record on there in his picture, so this probably added to the

  • Beogram 8000 - no spin!

Hi guys, I have had the opportunity to buy a beogram 8000. However, it appears to have some issues. Although I have not seen the unit "in action", the guy claims that apart from a non spinning platter, every other function on the deck works fine... The 8000 is a tangential drive turntable (so it can't be a slipped off belt!!) so what problem

  • Re: MS150.2 repairs

Thanks Guys! Feel I know what to look for now. Martin - I will be using the proper method, with the dustcaps off, and shims! ;p Step 1 - [quote user="Step1"] I can't see any reason why folks the like of goodhifi cannot provide dustcaps.
