• Re: My new toys :)

    Well....
I don't know this model (although would really like to get my hands on one!) you need Martin.
Was written in one of my posts last week. Things have changed! Congratulations on a great system, one of the best B&O ever made. What loudspeakers are you going to use with it? Big ones I hope! I am sure

  • Re: Beolab Penta with some scratches

Very good! The thump seems to be coming from the beomaster, have you had that recapped/serviced too? Just went over all the replies again, concerning the buzzing: have you already checked it is not from the cable, by swapping the powerlink from the left and right speaker?

Problem solved! The readings didn't really look like there was anything wrong in module 6 as far as I could make out, so I thought, maybe I'd start all over again. I rechecked all the connectors again, and this time I spotted a small solder bridge I probably made redoing the connectors! I must have missed it the first time as it was really small

6TR11: collector (pin marked C on PCB 6) has 0.01V when Standby, 14.99V when On. Checked the base (pin marked B on the PCB ) too, has 0.70V when Standby, 0.07V when On. Service manual says it should be 0.043V.

Thank you gentlemen! @Step1: yes there is -22.3 V on both sides of the relay coil, one of them should become ground and the relay will energize? This means the relay is fine then, the switch just isn't made to turn the relay on. @Dillen: I'll check the traces between processor and display when I have more time this evening. For now what I managed

  • updated: BM8000 won't start up any more

Hi all, Had the afternoon off so decided to solder in the U264B I recently received in the hopes of getting my beomaster 8000's radio working again. When I put everything back together the beomaster wouldn't start up anymore. Stand by works, you can turn it on and the displays work, the processor test delivers 'TP' but the amplifiers

  • Re: Beolab 6000 Bass Drivers x4

If it's just the dustcaps being pushed in you could try putting the brush on your vacuum cleaner and with increasing suction trying to get the dustcap to pop back in its original shape! Usually works very well, seems a bit overkill to replace the drivers just for this
Been playing recently, and have come to the conclusion that most audiophile speak is rubbish.
I am glad that there are still people with some common sense around! I agree very strongly with the three points you make. Concerning CD players and DACs: mbee says the DAC makes a lot of difference. I unfortunately don't

  • Re: Help : Mold!

That is bad! Now I am no expert but mold likes to live in places that are porous like cardboard from speakers or the wood of loadspeaker cabinets. I had it on wooden speaker cabinets that hadn't been oiled in a long time. After properly oiling the cabinets the problem never returned. Same should apply to cardboard: there is stuff available, some
