Hi All, I've now had a response from Cambridge Audio regarding leaving the DAC on all the time. The first point they made was that the DAC needs to be run in for 30-40 hours to achieve its full potential. After that, warming it up (leaving it on for a few hours prior to use) makes no difference. Regarding leaving it on 24/7 - the response was a

And that was my point in trying to determine how old my base is (or at least the software on it). I have a Becom6000 (mark I) running off it now and this works fine. I intend to buy a Beocom 2 at some stage but before I do I just want to make sure the beoline I have won't cause any issues. Regarding your point about upgrading my Mark I to a II

I don't have a problem with it Keith. I was just trying to ensure that the firmware was current enough to allow me to add some newer Beocoms to the PSTN. From what I read I understand that this is especially important when the Beocoms are newer.

Thanks for the advice guys but could you let me know how to check it using a Mark I Beocom 6000? Also, how would I go about updating the PSTN firmware if it turns out that I need to? I assume it involves a trip to my local B&O dealer + a lot of expense! Cheers

I've spoken to my local Hi-Fi dealer and he tells me its actually best to leave a DAC on all of the time. He said that it actually needs a couple of hours to warm up to give optimum sound so leaving it on is a better. He also said that, in the case of the DacMagic, as the psu is external there is no danger to the device if it blows or anything.

Its plugged into a 9 gang power splitter so switching off at the wall isn't really an option if I want anything else to work! The timer switch is an idea but I was looking for a more intelligent solution than simply being on from, say 7pm to 1 am every night! Perhaps there's another brand of DAC which offers this facility (and auto-switching

Does the Apogee have auto-sensing of the source and auto-on? I love the DACMagic but its a pain to have to switch it on each time I use it (am afraid to leave it on 24/7) + When I connect some other digital sound sources I'll have to switch the input source manually using the button on the front! Not a major problem I know but it just doesn't

Hi All, I love the DacMagic - its lifted my music collection no end! The problem I have is that I've placed it in a cupboard so have to go in an turn it on everytime I listen to iTunes over my Airport Express. This is especially annoying when listening to iTunes in a link room since the cupboard is in the living room. Does anyone know of a way to

Hi All, I recently went out and purchased a Cambridge Audio DacMagic to improve my iTunes music via an Airport Express. I have to report that the difference is amazing and I couldn't be happier with the improvement! I'm now thinking this wonderful little box might be able to work its 'magic' on some of my other devices. To this end,
