Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
Hi All
As hard as I look I cannot seem to find any info on how to check the firmware version of the PSTN I'm using with my Beocom 6000!
For the phone I believe its 'dot, 70001'
Anyone know how to check the version on the pstn (I have the old style rectangular one)?
Cheers

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
Would it be actually written on the PSTN itself?
I wasn't actually aware you could upgrade Mk1 PSTN bases, or if there were even different levels of firmware?

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
I can confirm that you CAN check the firmware version of the PSTN base.
I can confirm that you CAN upgrade the base firmware if require, I believe the latest version is 2.5, but I would suggest you don't get it done unless you have a known problem to solve.
If using Mark II Beocom 6000's with the old base you can check the version by:-
- Press 9#9#9* INT
- Turn dial one click clockwise and it will display "BS SW version"
- Press centre button OK
- It will say "Wait" for a couple of seconds then display the version and date
The base is updated with a special service tool put through a small hole underneath the label

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
Thanks for the advice guys but could you let me know how to check it using a Mark I Beocom 6000?
Also, how would I go about updating the PSTN firmware if it turns out that I need to? I assume it involves a trip to my local B&O dealer + a lot of expense!
Cheers

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
As previously stated the PSTN firmware is updated using a Service Tool which can be done by your dealer for which there may be a charge.
If you have a Mark I Beocom 6000 then the only way to check the base firmware version is with the Service Tool.
What is the exact problem you are trying to fix ?

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
I don't have a problem with it Keith.
I was just trying to ensure that the firmware was current enough to allow me to add some newer Beocoms to the PSTN. From what I read I understand that this is especially important when the Beocoms are newer.

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
Unless you have the very earlest Beoline bases, a Mark II Beocom 6000 will work with your current base.
That is why bases are rarely updated except to fix a few small issues which most people don't see.
You can also have Mark I and Mark II handsets working on the same base.
You can also have your Mark I handsets upgraded to Mark II's with a special B&O upgrade kit rather than buying Mark II handsets from new, its a cheaper option by a long way.

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
And that was my point in trying to determine how old my base is (or at least the software on it). I have a Becom6000 (mark I) running off it now and this works fine.
I intend to buy a Beocom 2 at some stage but before I do I just want to make sure the beoline I have won't cause any issues.
Regarding your point about upgrading my Mark I to a II - what does the kit cost in the UK (without fitting)?

Re: Beoline PSTN Firmware Version
Last time I purchased a Beocom 6000 upgrade kit it cost around £60
If you decide to purchase a Beocom 2, then your base will need to have software version 2.5 which I am sure the dealer will upgrade for free, if needed as part of the purchase.
