Hi all, just got from someone an MX5000 which they have had sat in thier garage for 5 years, i left it overnight to get to my room temperature and now just turned it on, i get a static sound from the back of the TV (not the speakers) which seemed to fade after 3-4 mins, but has now come back and is not fading now.

any ideas??

What you are hearing is almost certainly EHT discharge normally tracking because of dust/grease and general dirt. If this is the cause and I would say its most likely, then do not allow it to continue, I suggest you disconnect the MX5000 from the mains, leave it to fully discharge for an hour, remove the back and use a vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust and dirt as possible.
