    Encore - Time Capsule

    Dear all,

I have serched the WEB quite a lot, but nowhere found a easy to understand information of how I could use my Time Capsule as DLNA device for future running a BS5 encore with having my music files on the time capsule. Right now I have an iMac with all data and beoport together with my BS3200. But I want to come to a point where the iMac does not need to run around the clock anymore.

I know that time capsule cannot DLNA, but there are some programs out there that enable it to do so. I read about Twonkey but did not look through the description on the twonkey site..

    Thank you for your advices,

    Heribert

Why searching to tweak the Time Capsule and not replacing it by a full featured NAS, which will do everything the TC does, and add DLNA compatibility?

TC is a backup solution and a router. It is not designed as a NAS. Get a cheap NAS and plug it in to the TC

Understand. But I have enough place on TC and would love to keep my "machine park" as it is.

So is there no way to use the TC as DLNA server?

    Sorry, no.

As long as Apple does not provide such a service as part of the software i am afraid you have to go for a separate NAS.

Can't the Encore access music files from a standard shared hard drive? (Shared using SMB?)

A while back, I used my Time Capsule to stream content to a PS3. It required a program called MediaConnect. However, a problem with the Time Capsule was always getting it to "wake up." I wouldn't recommend using the Time Capsule for this purpose.
