Presumably they're all in the bar by now. Maybe some feedback tomorrow?

    Re: dealer conference

    hi,

the message in french forum was not very explicit but "bs5 encore" probably means "bs5 again" or "another bs5". there remains a slight chance that there really exists a new revolutions product called the "bs5 encore", but i'm not holding my breath.

"Beosound 5 Encore" means "Beosound 5 encore" as it is the name of the new product.

"Encore" indeed means "again", but in english it correspond to the moment at the end of a concert when the artists come back to play a few more songs.

Think Beosound 5 without the need for a Beomaster 5 (the bit that doesn't work very well!!) and which simply connects to your own music on your computer.

I think the others are fairly explanatory though I have not seen the Beo6.

    Re: dealer conference

Good idea this "BeoSound 5 Encore" but i think the computer must be "switched on" to listen to music.

The "old" BeoSound 5 can play music even if the computer is off, that's what i appreciate.

Anyway, these new products seems very cool...

    Re: dealer conference

If the Beosound 5 Encore is compatible with any NAS on the Market, you won't have to have a PC switched on (in fact, with the Original BS5, you always had a PC switched on, as the BM5 is just a full PC... Now maybe you will be able to lower power consumption, choose any hard drive size, choose a multiple hardrive NAS in order to automatically backup everything, make an auto-synchronisation of your music files to the disk...).

Now I just hope that the Beosound 5 Encore will be priced reasonably, and that it will allow playback of the main kinds of formats (Apple Lossless) and gapless playback (like every $20 mp3 player from the '90s...)Big Smile

The new remote seems promising too!

    Thanks Phil,

The Beosound 5 encore I going to guess will allow one to use any Windows PC with Beomaster 5 software or maybe Beoplayer.  Beo6 should be interesting.

Speculating on these things is always fun.

It would still need a dedicated PC or equivalent - all a "Beosound 5" is is a custom made glorified keyboard and monitor.  There's nothing in it.  Using your own Windows PC wouldn't help, as you'd have no Masterlink or Powerlink outputs - so what do you use it as?  I can't see this as the answer.

I'd hazard a guess that the 'Encore' complements the existing system rather than provides an alternative - e.g. a Link Room control or something.

We'll have to wait and see.  Interested in the possible two-way Beo6!  Hopefully we will find out some more information soon.

    Re: dealer conference

From my dealer I´ve been told:

BS5 "encore" BS5 without BM5. It uses memorycard / USB memory instead.

Beo6 basicly Beo5 with 2way. You can see covers on the remote. A little different design but not much.

BS8 basicly 2 speakers and an I Pod dock. Design, Beoworlders know...

Beosound 5 encore to me would only make sense if it links into Itunes.

It probably doesn't, it probably is just the software that runs on the beomedia "stand alone".

Is somewhat easy to make that a product and would shave the cost ... plus that move could be used to try to re-ignite sales.

I wouldnt mind running a Mac Mini type of serve to support media streaming. The Beomedia is essentially nothing but a PC, so you have a computer on anyhow.

This would be a great idea!  I recently purchased a Mac Mini as my iTunes server.

    Re: dealer conference

Some will be launched before X-mas. I could be interested in Beo6. Add 90 - 100 euro to the Beo5. BS8 will be priced 1000. And finaly BS1 will be discontinued...

    Re: dealer conference

    BS5 "encore" probably 3300 - 3500 euro.

    So far BV10 - 32 " and BV4 - 85 " are the only new TV...

Have to admit I´m a little disappointed if the mentioned news are the only news this season. Not a lot of new products but new sizes etc. to existing products. BS8 and Beo6 seems to be the only ones. I did expect a new audio and some new speakers...

    Re: dealer conference

If the BS5 encore gets some kind of iTunes integration would be a complete "new" product. And the one that probably everyone is expecting. Add to that a better price point and it makes it very desirable. I mean it is the only digital music player in the market with some kind of "magic" and style. Very B&O.

Any words about when it will be launched.

Even though it would not surprise me if B&O has the "new" BS5 running on memorycards or USB sticks, i just cant imagine they can be that stupid in their R&D department . Its functionality will probably be based on Ethernet connection to NAS or other storagedevice making it only a big "remote control" as it in my opinion should have been from the start.

I think that this is quite a lot of new products! The BS5 encore is effectively a new system, you have the Beolab 6002 and 8002, new size TV sets, a two way remote and the iPod dock. Let's not be greedy! Big Smile
