    BV8 - BV6 link

    Hi All

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am really stuck!!  I have a BV8-40 with Sky HD and a BV6-22 in my bedroom.  I want to view sky in my bedroom and have control over what I watch.  Is this possible WITHOUT using the RF2 on the sky box and a magic eye?  I have tried connecting to the RF out port on my BV8 but cant seem to get it working!

I can only get pic / sound when using the Sky RF out.  The reason for doing this is I want to get rid of Sky and move over to Freesat but the Freesat box does not have an RF out!!

    Thanks

    Simon

I am making an educated guess that your Sky HD connection is HDMI and therefore digital so there is no analogue signal to be broadcast on the RF out.

Can you add a second but analogue path from the Sky HD - such as a SCART connection or component or composite ?

If you have that, then the RF output can be enabled and the BV6 tuned to it ...

What AV interface is the BV6 currently getting its signals on ?

This diagram of my set-up may help you ...

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

How do i find that out?

    On my BV8-32 ....

    press [MENU]

scroll to CONNECTIONS but do not select

    press 0

    press 0 again

    press (GO)

    select MONITOR INFORMATION

    check "OPTION SETTING"

    press [EXIT]

something similar will probably get you the V.OPT for the BV6

Hi ... I have been checking the previous thread you had with other problems ...

    --> http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/p/32867/267243.aspx#267243

Can I ask you to check if:

    1) you have the BV8 set to transmit on the RF

    and

    2) the BV6 set to the channel the BV8 is using

This is my set-up and how I access it:

    [DTV]

    [MENU]

    select 4 (SETUP)

    select OPTIONS

    select ACTIVE ANTENNA

    select ON

What I cant remember (yet) is how to set the frequency

But make sure your RF is on

Then select a channel on TV or DTV

and then try tuning your BV6 to see if it picks up that signal

I press [MENU] and then get the menu I described, I then select option 4 by either:

    - scrolling down (v) to 4 and pressing (GO), or

    - pressing [4]

Then in the middle of the screen a gray and black menu appears:

    SETUP

    CHANNELS

    OPTIONS

    ACCESS CONTROL

    CA-UNITS

This is different from pressing [MENU] [MENU] which produces a different gray and black menu (its fonts are much finer, much nicer):

    DTV SETUP

    DTV

<-- appears to be a blank line

    PLAY TIMER

    CONNECTIONS

    SOUND

    PICTURE

    MENU LANGUAGE

What I cant remember (yet) is how to set the frequency

Found Keith's email to me about this as well as my memory :)

    On the BV8 ...

    1. Press [TV] !! not DTV this time -- why is this stuff in two places !!
    2. Press [MENU]
    3. Select TUNING
    4. Select LINK FREQUENCY

See what the default frequency on the BV8 is

Now try to tune the BV6 to that frequency

    Re: BV8 - BV6 link

Ok, I have sorted out why I couldn't access the menu - the DVB moduel was turned off.  When I follow your instructions now I can access the menus but in Options, there is no (ACTIVE ANTENNA) to select.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Bellow is the info on the BV

We appear to have different BV8s, mine is a BV8-32

I was checking the DVB software version numbers but they are a different format of version number !

BUT I did notice mine is set to V.OPT 2

Perhaps we should try that ?

    Re: BV8 - BV6 link

WOW now I have sound and picture!!!  Pressing Link A-V then DTV on the Beo4 seems to work!  NOr sure if this is the correct way though!  I could always program a macro on my Beo 5 I guess!!

DO you have any other ways of setting it all up?  I had to set the AV input on the BV6 to Decoder to get a picture.

Also should I have any control over the sky box from my link room tv?

    Thanks again

    Si
