    M70 speakers

I,m a new member with a woofer problem. I have owned ( since new) a set of M-70 speakers. I have a woofer that

breaks up with volume demand. The sound is similar to a finger tapping on the cone.

These speakers have never been serviced and have been paired with a Beomaster 4000 since new.

    Re: M70 speakers

    Welcome to Beoworld !

If you are sure that it is actually the woofer causing problems,
I may be able to help you with a good used replacement woofer but
check first that the solder tag rivets are intact. The backside (inside)
"rim" of the rivets can sometimes work lose and travel up the flexible
lead towards the woofer cone and that can make some rattling noises.
If the rims are lose, check that the rivets themselves are still tight
and simply glue the rims back into place to stop them from rattling.

    Re: M70 speakers

Thank You for the advice. I had read on another thread about the rivet problems and am working up the courage

to take these special speakers apart. I have taken the S75 speakers apart and replaced the X- Ovr. boards  and drivers but, they were

used and abused by someone else so, there was no fear in making repairs. The reason I'm here, is to use the experience of

others to keep these collectors items going for another 2 decades. If this is not a rivet problem, we may indeed be conversing

about replacement woofers as well as a few other things you have listed.

I have, over the last year, purchased a few sets of speakers and receivers for my aging children ( since they have all grown up around

by original B&O system) and loved the reproduction quality.  My children love classic cars and good vintage stereo. They know I have had

my system since 1976 with almost NO service problems and many, many hours of operation.  Music is life and B&O has made this possible.

Martin, thank you again for your insight.
