beomaster 8000 vs. vacuum tube amp............

Has anyone compared bm8000 and vacuum tube amp?

As I delve into both B&O and other analog audio, I found out I started liking the sound of tube amp.  Not really more accurate, but more relaxed, and contemplative mood.

For my active listening and live-recording, I want to utilize open reel preferrable with tube pre-amp.

    Main issue for me is:

I know I have to get solid state amp for my cassette, cd, LP, at least for recording purpose, but I'm wondering whether it would be worth it to purchase additioinal tube stereo amp just for the open reel.

I heard an open reel with tube pre-amp with solid state Mcintosh amp, and it sounded amazing.

Would bm8000 alone be enough? or additional tube stereo amp would be worth it?

I'm not sure if Martin has a valve set at home that he also uses, as I do know he has a Beomaster 8000 that he uses. Perhaps he could comment...

All I would say is that I think you're comparing apples and pears. A Beomaster 8000 has 150 Watts per channel, so can be used to power big speakers such as MS 150.2s or Beovox Pentas (which I own and use with my 8000). My understanding of valve amps is that their power outputs are significantly less than that of the 8000, so if you have a big room you'd struggle to run some Beovox Pentas off an underpowered valve amp. Not sure if that's your intention, or if you're talking about two different set ups? I think you need to hear a BM 8000 first. Where are you located, as there are quite a few UK owners dotted around who might be willing to let you have a listen :)
