Just got my Beo5 remote shipped from the dealer. My first concern about the remote is the volume wheel. It doesn't seem to turn freely, i.e. it  jams (slightly) when turned. Since the surface of the wheel is slippery it is somewhat awkward to adjust the volume.

Has anyone had the same "problem" after receiving their Beo5? Is this normal since the remote (aught to be) is brand new and should I just use it for a while to break it in? If not, is there a solution to make the wheel turn smoother other than sending it back to the dealer?

The volume wheel should turn smoothly and you will hear a click in the speaker as you turn it.

It should NOT jam or be difficult to turn, if it is, then I suggest you return it to your dealer.

The wheel turns and the click is audible. I guess I'll have to contact the dealer on monday and probably will have to ship the unit back. The downpart about that option is that usually it takes a few weeks before things get done via phone and mail [:'(]

By "jams" do you mean that it turns and then locks or do you mean that it feels like it is dragging or scraping against another component.  If it is dragging, than this is most likely due to the surrounding buttons (between the aluminum and the wheel) not sitting properly due to tension of the internal rubber seal pushing them against the wheel.  

If this is the case then you should be able to correct the problem by firmly pressing all the of buttons sequentially until the seal retreats to the correct position relieving the tension that was pushing against the wheel.

Problem solved. The volume wheel was scraping against the surrounding buttons. The cause to this was a very slight dent in the aluminum body of the remote that wasn't even visible.

I guess the dealer had accidentally either dropped or otherwise abused the remote during programming. Although the remote feels very classy, the Beo5 doesn't seem or feel as robust as the Beo4. Anyway, it works fine now and I'm satisfied with it so far.
