Beovision 8-40 connect to mac which connection?
I am trying to connect a mac powerbook to my Beovision 8-40 and am not sure which connection to make. Do I use some sort of HDMI conversion cable that will plug into the DVI output on the mac? I obviously want the best picture and suspect there is a beter connection thatn the PC one on the BV8. Do such conversion cords exist? I guess they would need to have a phones jack on the computer end to carry the sound.
How are others making these connections?

Re: Beovision 8-40 connect to mac which connection?
There are DVI to HDMI converters available, I used one to connect my BeoMaster 5 (DVI) to one of the HDMI inputs to my BV8-40, you need to set the connection for your MAC on the BV8-40 to HDMI. Hope that helps.

But for sound what do I do? I obviously go from the headphone jack on the mac (either a mini headphone jack or optical cable. Where do i plug this into the BV8-40 I don't think there is anywhere to plug this audio.

It looks like I may need some sort of Toslink to SPDIF cable. I spoke to my dealer and we cannot see any other solution. It is a shame Apple will not put HDMI outputs on their computers. They really show that they want Apple TV to be their Media Centre!

I am not in front of my setup right now, but I connected the sound via the RCA cables (three sticks in each end, however only using two of them, left, right) to my BV8-40. I will try take a picture when I am in front of my setup.

If this is using the red and white terminals then the sound is analogue rather than digital. Does it sound OK? I guess it means that you can only get stereo rather than any type of surround sound.I really would like digital sound but I guess I will have to take what I can get with the limitations of the Mac and BV8!

You are correct, only stereo, no surround. I only used the computer for music, photos and web browsing when connected to my BV.

Re: Beovision 8-40 connect to mac which connection?
Hi,
Does the BV8 have a opto/digital entry like TOSLINK?
This would be great.
Thanks for the info,
