BS5/BM5 installed, now some basic questions or observations

Dealer spent quite a while installing my BS5/BM5 this afternoon, but left before I could use properly and ask questions. It's connected to my BV7-40 so isn't an 'audiomaster'.

    1) When you select N.MUSIC from the TV screen, using the Beo4, how do you browse and scroll through your music? You can only move forward and back beween tracks?! You have to choose tracks from the BS5. Correct?

    2) The BS5 doesn't seem to control what's on the TV screen (which I'm assuming is BM5 based). Select a track on the BS5 and then show the artwork. The TV shows the BM5 menu! Why doesn't it automatically show the track artwork you've selected on the BS5?

    3) How do you easily remove tracks from your BM5 using BeoConnect? I guess you have to manually remove them from the BS5?

    4) There's no facility to fast forward through a long track?

IMHO this is a much better product connected directly to the speakers. Hmm.

The short answer to most of your questions is: Wait for the update.

1- Correct. Navigation in N.MUSIC and N.RADIO mode via TV screen is not (yet) very useful. The update will give us a menu similiar to that you have in the PHOTO and WEB section.

2- You can use N.RADIO and N.MUSIC via BS5 as audio source, or via TV in PC mode as video source. Usually when you activate BS5 by turning the wheel, it will start in audio mode - Beovision stays off.

3- As far as I know you cannot delete tracks via Beoconnect. With the update you will be able to delete tracks directly with Beo4 via TV screen.

4- No. Wait for the update.

I noticed on the Mac you can remotely login to the Windows-based BM5 as 'BM-USER' with the right password. From Finder, you can delete music (but not upload - you need to use BeoConnect), delete photos, upload photos, re-arrange photos and so on. This is a FAR easier way of deleting tracks and managing your photos.

In my opinion, the BS5 is an unfinished product. Gawd knows who they have working on the sw for this product - my guess it's one bloke, working part-time.

Guys, is it possible to play the BS5 via the connected BV7-40, without turning on the TV? ie. make the speakers turn on, but not the TV screen?

Yes, it is possible. If  your BS5 is audiomaster it must be set to option 0 - BV7-40 to V.OPT 2. If you have another Beosound in the masterlink system, set BS5 to no audiomaster. Seems there is something wrong with your installation...(?)

There often appears to be a problem with my installation. Now my BV8-26 is suffering from so much interference, it won't perform as a link-room TV. Just get a garbled screen :(

It's set to option 0. I'll check the BV7 settings later though.

Moxxey - I take it you don't even bother with the lotteryLaughing

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

Put it this way: if I could fix the result myself, I would. I often end up having to 'finish' my own installation. I'm now working on getting the link-room TV working again. Finished the BS5 install myself (to a point).
