A couple of weeks ago, I bought the terrific Beogram 4002 deck. It works perfectly, I thought...

Some days after I wanted to listen to some 45 singles. I put the on the deck and press PLAY. It detects it all and moves the arm the groove at 45 rpm setting, but after a couple of seconds, i could hear a great speed deviation... The platter doesn't run faster than 45 RPM, but just gets that slow that there is a very audible pitch change...

please help me :(

Fitst thing to check will normally be the belt but if the fault is only related to 45RPM and not
present on 33RPM, I suppose we can rule that out.
Next up is the speed setting trimmers, both the fingerwheel-operated ones
on the panel and the ground-adjustment trimmers on the main printed circuit board.
If not operated for a long time, they can develop oxidation (and collect dust etc.)
Finally, the speed changing relay could have bad contacts.

Roll the fingerwheels back and forth a couple of times to see if it cures the fault.

I have something to try when I get home from the boarding school I'm at... I maybe come home in the next weekend to try the thing with the fingerwheels and adjustment trimmers If the problem doesn't fix I have to check my service manual

But it's very strange that the 33RPM setting works perfectly with no speed changes, but 45RPM...

Hello again. Altering the trimmers on top of the deck can't solve the problem, but the beogram only does this fault when is hasn't been playing at 45 r.p.m. in a day or so. After the first single, there isn't the problem in 'wobly' speed variance (guess I could call it Wow or flutter?).

But I have strict orders from my father(an expirienced electrician) that i must not open the deck, even if I show him how easy it is to (dis-)assemble the deck. He might be scared that it may be impossible to put it back together again.

I wouldn't worry about that, probably the easiest record decks in the world to access. Reassembly is a simple reverse of disassembly.
