Problem with Beocenter 9500 / Which speakers are best for 9500?

    Hi folks,

I just bought a Beocenter 9500 from fleamarket including Beolink 1000 remote control. Everything seems to work just fine except cd player, which does not read cd's at all. Lid opens and disk rolls fine but soon lid opens again. I tried to clean the laserhead, but it didn't help.

After quick check from user's manual I noticed that there is two screws under cd player which are supposed to be at "transport" holes when system is moved but those were at "play" holes when i bought it. So most likely moving system without locking cd has caused this malfunction? Is there any easy fix for this problem or should I contact my local B&O service?

Anyway, I think that 100 euros for beocenter and remotecontroller was still bargain. Smile

    Thanks, for your help,

    Mikkis

The transport screws are unlikely to be the problem. More likely malfunctioning capacitor on the CD servo board. There is much information about this on the forum if you search "c2103"

    Oh, welcome to the forum!

    Regards Graham

Thanks for your help. I read about the c2103 and I think I have to contact B&O service because I am afraid that there is no skilled forum members available at Finland. Indifferent

Second question would be: Which speakers would be most suitable for Beocenter 9500? Local classified ads has following listings:

    • Beovox Redline 60 for 200 eur
    • Beovox CX100 for 100 eur
    • Beovox 5000 for 360 eur

    Hi Mikkis

I can't help with your Cd problem but I have used RL60.2, CX 50 and Pentalabs mkII with my  BC 9500 dependant on the size of room the 9500 has been located in. The Pentas were fantastic (still using them in a link room) in my living room. The RL 60.2 were my first B&O speakers and they were good in a relatively small living room. They were quite sensitive to positioning as far as bass was concerned. IMHO the RL60.2 were best (most Neutral) on their stands. The 9500 is currently in use in a small bedroom with the CX50 which are fine in the small room.

    Hope that helps

    Best Wishes

I'm in Espoo and I have repaired some B&O CD players which had this cap problem. However, I can't promise to be able to fix it as there might be other problems as well. PM me if you're interested in having me take a look anyway (and don't live in the opposite end of the country...).

I do fix vintageB&O -stuff, too, but I have not much experience in CD-players so I can't help! Also I am so busy at the moment....

I would recommend you to search for someone handy with electronics as the official B&O service, Electrosonic Lightinen Oy, is very expensive, around 60 EUR / hour! (I had one BC9000 fixed there and it took.... around 6 hours; not cheap!)
